Guangdong has a comparative advantage both in the natural environment of vegetable farming and in the port conditions for vegetable exports.With the vigorous development of China's import and export trade,Guangdong's commodity exports have an important international position,and the prospects for development are good.As of the end of 2016,Guangdong Province,vegetable acreage of about 2111.91 million mu,the total output of 35.7797 million tons,for 10 consecutive years by the top 5 total vegetable output.However,with the development of modern agriculture,the advantages of vegetable production in Guangdong are becoming less and less obvious.There is no industrial scale,the total amount of vegetable exports is low,and the export competitiveness of vegetables is insufficient.But how to promote the export competitiveness of vegetable industry in Guangdong province has become the key link of vegetable industry development in Guangdong province.This paper mainly through the collection of relevant literature and statistical data,first introduced the basic situation of Guangdong Province vegetable production and export trade,and then through the international market competitiveness evaluation index,trade specialization coefficient,variation of export advantage index and export competitiveness compared to other provinces,the level of competitiveness of vegetable export in Guangdong Province.To find out the reasons of lack of competitiveness,the last of these problems in-depth study,put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions,in order to provide solutions to improve the export competitiveness of other regions.The results show that: Guangdong Province vegetable exports have a certain competitiveness,but still faces some problems in the export: one is the international market share is low,has not formed the characteristic competitiveness;two is a single product competitiveness;three is the growth rate of exports of vegetables is not stable.The main causes of these problems are the following:(1)the increase of international trade barriers;(2)the vegetable industry structure and single export market;(3)the difference of the international standard for quality inspection of vegetables;(4)the government support is insufficient;(5)the brand awareness is not strong and so on.Therefore,Guangdong province should adjust measures to local conditions,with superior natural conditions and advantages of the port:(1)according to the needs of the international market,rational use of international trade agreements,continue to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation,expand exports to international markets;(2)optimize the vegetable industry structure,form a complete industrial chain,and develop diversified commodities;(3)improve the vegetable quality standard and inspection system,through increased investment in research,development of farming,pay attention to product production,improve the quality inspection system;(4)to increase the government's efforts to support the vegetable industry;(5)strengthen the vegetable brand building,enhance brand competitiveness;strengthen marketing and publicity.
