Research On The Influence Of Patent-Intensive Industry Agglomeration On Economic Growth In Jiangsu Province

From 2016,China has entered the next pivotal five years.Under the new situation,China's economic growth rate is undergoing a process of transition from high speed to medium-high speed.Innovation Drive is gradually promoting China's economic development.Intellectual property plays as core resources of the high-end of the value chain and that intellectual property promotes the extension to industry to the two ends of the smiling curve is the mainstream trend of future development.Countries and regions have attached great importance to the cultivation and development of intellectual property.Jiangsu Province has paid much more attention to the study of patent-intensive industries with intellectual property as the core resource.This study takes industrial economics,econometrics and statistics as the theoretical guidance,starts from the theory of industrial agglomeration and economic growth,and fully absorbs domestic and foreign research results on the relationship between industrial agglomeration and economic growth,with 33 patent-intensive industries containing in the 12 major categories of industries in Jiangsu Province acting as the subjects of research.Firstly,three indexes of total industrial output value of enterprise above designated size,number of enterprises,and average number of workers in the industry were selected.The level of Industrial agglomeration of patent-intensive industries in Jiangsu Province was comprehensively determined by entropy method,finally the agglomeration industry was determined and analyze the situation of agglomeration of patent-intensive industries in Jiangsu Province in many aspects.Subsequently,two control variables:the average wage of employees in non-state-owned urban units and the internal expenditure of research and development funds in industrial enterprises were introduced to analyze the relationship between the industrial agglomeration of patent-intensive industries in Jiangsu Province and economic growth through the establishment of a fixed effects model and further analyze the impact of various agglomeration industries on economic growth in Jiangsu Province.Finally,it puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions for promoting the development ofagglomeration of patent-intensive industries in Jiangsu Province.This study finds that:(1)the results of agglomeration of industries measured by different indicators are different.The pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is only an agglomeration industry when determined by the total output value,and the nonferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry is only an agglomeration industry when measured by the number of business units.Using the average number of workers as the output indicator,neither the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry nor the non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry has formed industrial agglomeration effects;(2)The eight patent-intensive industrial agglomeration industries in Jiangsu Province were comprehensively determined by using the entropy method,among which,the agglomeration of instrument and meter manufacturing industry was the highest;(3)the concentration of patent-intensive industries in Jiangsu Province was highly related to economic growth,which had a significant role in promoting economic growth;(4)Although the four industries of chemical raw materials and chemical manufacturing,railways,ships,aerospace and other transport equipment manufacturing,electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing,and instrumentation manufacturing are highly concentrated,their effect on economic growth is not obvious,indicating that the industry's agglomeration effect has not been fully realized.Finally,based on the results of empirical analysis,it proposes countermeasures and suggestions to promote the accumulation of patent-intensive industries in Jiangsu Province such as planning industrial agglomeration layout,highlighting the characteristics of industrial agglomeration,implementing talent strategy,encouraging technological innovation,improve the supporting service system for areas of industrial agglomeration,accelerating the transformation of government functions,reforming the administrative system and developing circular economy and taking the road of sustainable development,etc.
