With the development of urban economy and the improvement of people's living standard,urban car ownership in China has been rapidly growing for years,followed by the obvious contradiction between traffic supply and demand,environmental pollution and incalculable economic losses.After being aware that the traditional traffic management mode can't solve the modern traffic problems,domestic and foreign government started explore and innovate public transport management mode and tool continuously from the last century 60 s.They aim to create a highly effective,safe and comfortable traffic environment for the public,keeping energy conservation and environmental protection at the same time.Big data has emerged and is widely concerned in the recent years.In the field of public transportation,the rapid development of detecting technology make it possible to collect efficient and high-quality traffic data,and the improvement of the big data analysis ability can make big data be transformed into public value.With the information of traffic elements being collected in real time such as human,car and road,the traffic big data has been formed and developed,and then big data has been proved to be an advantageous tool for urban traffic management in practice.In the era of big data,this paper uses the public transportation problem as the entry point that matters everyone to explore whether big data can improve the effectiveness of urban traffic management.The author tries to find the answers from many domestic and foreign literatures and application practice.First of all,systematic review is adopted to review the relevant literatures and extract the benefits and risks of big data being used in urban intelligent transportation.Secondly,the paper summarizes the general process of big data being applied to urban intelligent transportation management,and conducts the value network analysis of participants.Thirdly,the staff of Department of Science and Technology in Wuhan City Police were treated as interviewees to explore the application situation of traffic big data in Wuhan City.and sorted out their application framework.Through the deeper analysis,the author summarizes the points of advantages and points which still need improvement.Finally,using inductive deductive method to extract the future development direction of big data applying to urban intelligent transportation.hoping to provide some references for the government to use big data technology to improve public transportation management mode.Big data is not only a kind of traffic management technology.It also reflects the transformation and innovation of governance concept,that the government public transportation services transform from passive to active,and public transportation management transform from backward to forward,and from manage independently to the transition of the social collaboration.
