It is of great significance to start the construction of the Yangtze Economic Belt when China's economic development has entered the important period of pursuing steady growth and structural readjustment. The paper takes relevant data from 2000 to 2014 of 129 cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Firstly, this paper applies the methods of Theil index and Kernel density estimation to measure and analyze the difference of economic growth, and then it analyzes the spatial distribution pattern of economic growth in the support of ArcGIS Spatial Visualization.Secondly, this paper applies Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis to reveal the characteristics of spatial correlation of economic growth. Finally, this paper uses spatial modeling techniques to construct various spatial panel data model in three kinds of spatial weights matrix, and applies Spatial Regression Model Partial Derivatives Method to study the influential factors and spatial spillover effects of the economic growth. The results are as follows:(1)The general economic development level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is constantly rising, but it also has significant regional economic difference. The overall difference presents widening trend at first and then narrowing trend, the differences within the areas are the main sources of the regional differences. The dynamic analysis of distribution based on Kernel density estimation shows that the degree of regional differences of economic growth is expanding. The Spatial Visualization indicates that the economic growth level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt presents a remarkable spatial unbalanced distribution pattern, the overall spatial distribution pattern of per-capita real GDP shows the characteristic of east-high and west-low,the eastern region, especially the Yangtze River Delta region has become the gathering area of the regions with higher economic growth. In central and western regions, the high level regions have only scattered in the central cities of a few regions, while the economic development of a majority of regions is relatively lagging behind.(2)The result of Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis shows that the economic growth of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has significant positive spatial correlation from 2000 to 2014,the spatial correlation becomes increasing firstly and then decreasing, the low-low type and the high-high type are the main type of spatial agglomeration, the high-high type stably agglomerates in the region of Yangtze River Delta, and the low-low type agglomerates in the western region of the Yangtze River Economic Belt,it has a diffused trend.(3)Finally,the result of spatial regression and the analysis for the influential factors of the Yangtze River Economic Belt's economic development indicates that the main factors of economic growth of the Yangtze River Economic Belt include capital, labour force, human capital, the others such as market potential, density of population, action of government and industrial structure also have significant effects on the economic growth. There is a significant spatial spillover effect in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the spatial spillover effect is further decomposed by Spatial Regression Model Partial Derivatives Method. The result indicates that the factors of the Yangtze River Economic Belt's economic growth have spatial spillover effects in various degrees and directions with different spatial correlation models. In the end, according to the results of the empirical study, this paper summarizes the full text, combining with the conclusion of this paper and the existing problems in the economic development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, some policy suggestions are put forward from the perspective of economic correlation between various regions. These suggestions are aimed to provide support and reference for reducing regional disparities and promoting coordinated development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
