Research On EU Free Trade Agreement Strategy

The current pattern of world trade is facing the trend of globalization and regional development,in order to consolidate the free trade system of negotiation and consultation,especially the free trade mechanism to establish the economic relation between relative close neighbors,to adopt preferential trade measures to promote the development of bilateral trade.The free trade mechanism represented by GATT and WTO has promoted the integration and regionalization of the global economy.At the same time,there are also many problems.In this case,all countries advocate a positive and free trade mechanism,and FTA is developing rapidly among all countries.Over the past few decades,the European Union has signed lots of trade agreements with neighboring countries and colonial areas through customs union,free trade area,contact agreement and partnership agreement.Especially after the signing of the North American Free Trade Agreement,the trade network of the European Union has been systematically developed,and trade policy has been transformed from the multilateral mechanism to the regionalized trade agreement.In the development of regional trade,being the most mature areas of integration,Europe shows a positive and strong attitude no matter in internal contact or external cooperation.Since 2006,the EU has further promoted a new generation of trade strategy.However,judging from the current situation,the progress of China-EU Free Trade Agreement has been difficult to progress.China has repeatedly proposed further in-depth cooperation with the European Union,calling for the establishment of a China-EU free trade area and expects to build the world's largest free trade area by 2020.However,the EU has been unresolved and has not given a positive response.If this agreement can be promoted,it will not only create huge market opportunities for Chinese and European enterprises,but will also inject new impetus into the sustained and stable development of bilateral economies.This paper reviews the literature of the EU Free Trade Area strategy and discusses the evolution of the EU Free Trade Area strategy,its development background,and its underlying causes and characteristics.Discuss the implementation of the EU free tradearea strategy deeply,including 22 free trade agreements the EU have implemented,5 free trade agreements,are waiting to be implemented,and 11 free trade agreements which are now negotiating.Combined with the empirical analysis method of gravitational model,the paper analyzes the trade effect of the EU Free Trade Area strategy and the impact of the construction of the EU free trade agreement on China,study results indicate that the implementation of the EU free trade agreement has not had a significant impact on the import and export trade of the EU.However,according to the grouping of the signed free trade agreements,some bilateral free trade agreements have a positive effect on the import and export trade of the EU.The EU Free Trade Area does not have a significant impact on China's exports and imports,but it does not rule out that one or more of the existing free trade agreements has a negative impact on China's trade.Finally,on the basis of the empirical research conclusions,the paper discusses the prospects and obstacles for the establishment of free trade agreements between China and the EU,and puts forward proposals and breakthroughs for the establishment of China-EU FTA.
