Airport runway FOD(Foreign Object Debris)refers to all foreign objects on the runway that may damage aircraft and threaten aircraft flight safety.FOD automatic detection equipment can greatly improve the efficiency of foreign body removal(fast time,high detection rate),and ensure aviation flight safety.In this paper,the signal processing of side-looking FOD millimeter-wave radar based on mobile platform is studied.The main research work in this paper is as follows:1.RCS of typical FOD targets is considered as the sum of complex scattering coefficient vectors of the combination of multiple or more common regular scattering surfaces.Therefore,the RCS characteristics of FOD targets can be studied from the backward scattering characteristics of these regular scatterers.The amplitude distribution characteristics of several common clutters are studied,and the influence of simulation scale parameters and shape parameters on the curve distribution were analysised.The generation methods of ZMNL and SIRP clutter sequences were studied.On this basis,according to the established scene model and echo model,the simulation of runway clutter under moving forward and side-looking scanning is carried out,and the results is consistent with the actual clutter characteristics.2.Establishing the model of FOD target echo signal under side-looking scanning,and simulating the target echo signal.Combining the target echo simulation and clutter simulation,the vertical cylinder is taken as the target to simulate the scene echo.Because of the short distance of detection and the small number of echo cycles of the same target,the traditional phase-coherent accumulation method is less effective.Radar works under the side-looking mode,azimuth focusing is introduced to image the target,and analyzes the feasibility and effectiveness of FOD detection at extreme distances.The results show that azimuth focusing imaging can improve the signal-to-noise ratio of target echo,improve azimuth resolution,and locate accurately.3.Based on the simulation results,a high-precision and high-speed signal processing board is designed and developed.A radar prototype developed by the laboratory was used to test at a military-civilian airport.In the experiment,FOD targets can be reliably detected.Statistical analysis of the measured clutter data shows that the parameters of the clutter distribution model are well fitted.
