The frequency scanning antenna realizes beam scanning by changing the frequency.Because of its advantages of simple structure,easy beam formation and low cost,the frequency scanning antenna is widely used in aerospace,meteorological detection and low-altitude defense.However,the frequency scanning antenna array has the disadvantages of small scanning angle and only one-dimensional low sidelobe.In this paper,based on the design of conventional waveguide,the field of low sidelobe and wide angle frequency scanning antenna arrays are studied and designed.1.The design of conventional waveguide slot frequency scanning antenna array: Based on the principle of waveguide slot antenna,the narrow-edge waveguide slot frequency scanning array working with 64×84 elements in Ku band has been designed.Both the simulation and the actual measurement prove that the designed antenna array achieves a scanning range of-2.5° to-13.5°.2.The design of a new wide-angle waveguide slot frequency scanning array: Based on the improvement of conventional waveguide slot frequency scanning array,a new Ku-band wide-angle waveguide slot frequency scanning array with 8×74 elements has been designed.Both the simulation and the measured results show that compared with the conventional waveguide,the new waveguide slot frequency scanning array achieves a scanning range of 18° from-15.1° to 3.9° in the same bandwidth,which significantly increases the scanning angle and proves the feasibility of this method.3.Research on two-dimensional wide-angle and low sidelobe frequency scanning array using hybrid coupling feeding: Since both antennas designed above can only achieve one-dimensional low-sidelobe,this paper proposes a two-dimensional low sidelobe frequency scanning array with hybrid feeding structure.The energy is coupled to the upper microstrip coupling patch through a slot in the slow wave line of the waveguide,and then the energy is fed to each radiation unit.Simulation and measurement show that the elevation dimension sidelobe is below-20 dB,and the azimuth dimension sidelobe is below-18.45 dB.This design realizes the two-dimensional low sidelobe with beam scanning range of-33°~27.5°.
