CPC Central Committee and the State Council published a new guideline on June 23,2019,about advancing education reform and improving the quality of compulsory education.The document stressed the role of classroom teaching,calling for effectively improving teaching quality.It also said that heuristic and interactive methods in teaching should be encouraged,more information technology should be integrated into school teaching,and research-based,project-based collaborative learning environments should be developed.Therefore,project-based learning(PBL)becomes an important methods and path to improve the quality of education and exercise the comprehensive ability of students.Current researches about PBL mainly concern its course design,however,this paper explores and researches on the development of students' collaborative problem-solving ability while adopting PBL.Two rounds of empirical researches were conducted in mathematics teaching activities towards the fifth-grade students.Firstly,what kind of changes would be occurred on students collaborate problem solving during the PBL process? Secondly,what kind of intervention strategies can be used to improve and develop students collaborate problem solving abilities?This paper provides practical references and instructions to teachers about operating PBL in classes.This paper is mainly divided into three parts: literature review,empirical research and introspective conclusion.In literature review,overseas and domestic research status on PBL and its collaborative problem-solving process were analyzed,which provided theoretical basis for designing PBL course,creating classroom activities and conducting classroom observations in later empirical researches.In empirical research,12 student participants were selected for two rounds of practical studies.Students' development of collaborative problem-solving abilities was examined through simulated agent questionnaire,classroom observation and after-class interviews.In introspective conclusion,problems emerged and methods of intervention adopted in the process were summarized,meanwhile analysis of the research results and prospect for further research were stated.Conclution are summerarized as following through iterature review,empirical research and introspective conclusion.Firstly,during the PBL process,student's collaborate problem solving abilities would be developed in varying degrees and aspects through the intervention of structure design method.With the instructions of structure design method,students who are skilled in the collaborate problem solving abilities would gather team members to solve the problems together.For the students who are not good at collaborate problem solving,they would be given sufficient thinking spaces and expression opportunities through structure design method.And it would accelerate the development of collaborate problem solving abilities.The students with average level of this ability would be instructed and more proportions of participatory and planning spaces would be given through structure design method.Secondly,with the involving of structure design method in the collaborate problem solving,student's abilities of identifying & describing current tasks and reflections of the task's progresses & results were increased obviously through the analysis of the class and the interviews after class.Meanwhile,the preliminary results were achieved when searching for the collaborating patterns and communication ways.
