The 21 st century is a highly knowledge-based and information age.Independent learning is not only a necessary quality for outstanding talents in the new century, but also a basic quality that everyone must have. The traditional teaching method pays too much attention to the imparts of knowledge and ignores the cultivation of students’ independent learning ability. However, the students cultivated by this traditional teaching method become passive machines to accept and memorize knowledge, lacking the ability of independent learning and innovation. The foundation education course reform outline(try out)"to" change the curriculum implementation too much emphasis on accepting, rote learning, mechanical training of the status quo, encourage students to actively participate in,willing to explore, diligently to begin, train the students’ ability to collect and process information, the ability of acquiring new knowledge, problem solving ability and the ability of communication and cooperation." Therefore,it is necessary to improve students’ participation in the class,be independent and diligent in thinking, exploring and discovering independently, improve students’ dominant position in the class, and let students learn to learn.Under this background,"learning plan guide learning" teaching mode arises at the historic moment. At present, the application of this teaching model in senior high school geography class is more than the theoretical research, and most of the school practice is better learning situation, the effect is significant. Is it possible to improve learning efficiency and students’ autonomous learning ability by applying in schools with poor students’ foundation? Therefore, combining with the actual teaching situation of this school, this teaching mode is tried to be applied to the practice of geography teaching. On the one hand,it aims to help solve the "low in and low out" teaching situation in our school. On the other hand,it is also hoped to provide reference for geography teaching in similar schools. This paper studies the application of this model by three methods: literature analysis, educational experiment and questionnaire survey.Through the research of a school year,in the comparative analysis of students’ performance, students’ performance was improved under the teaching mode of "learning plan guided learning",and different from the traditional mode, the improvement of students’ performance was based on the enhancement of their autonomy. From the aspect of ability, students gradually learn how to learn and master geography learning methods. At the same time,non-intellectual factors were developed, and students were more confident and willing to express themselves in class presentations and other aspects.Although there are many achievements in the practice of the teaching model of "learning plan guiding learning",there are also various problems, such as teachers’ inadequate grasp of learning plan guiding learning or improper application, etc.,so teachers are required to be more strict in teaching design. In view of the existing problems, the feasible improvement strategies are discussed.
