Alfred North Whitehead is a famous British philosopher,mathematician,educator and founder of process philosophy.In his book "the purpose of education",he put forward the concept of educational rhythm as the core of his educational thought,which shows Whitehead's deep insight into the transformation of school educational concept and educational practice.The study and discussion of Whitehead's view of educational rhythm can provide a new academic way for the current school education reform,which is of great significance for promoting the development of school education.Based on Whitehead's process philosophy,the concept of educational rhythm is based on the principles of process,creativity,relevance,real feelings and inclusiveness.Whitehead believes that it is fundamental for education to grasp the process of education.The existence of intelligence is the result of three stages of romantic,precise and comprehensive application,which have the characteristics of process and stage.Therefore,educators should always study education in the process of dynamic education.The principle of creativity emphasizes that educators should believe that every student has creative potential and development space,and pay attention to the creative ability of students.According to the relevance principle and the real feeling process view,each stage of intellectual development is intertwined and interrelated.The development of students is a cycle process from reaction to supplement,to satisfaction,and then from reaction.The theory of inclusion provides Whitehead with a theoretical basis and promotes his understanding of education.Whitehead's view of educational rhythm covers the specific connotation,cycle process and basic characteristics of three stages of romantic,precise and comprehensive use in educational rhythm.The romantic stage is the stage when students begin to understand the extensive facts and carry out free exploration;the precise stage is the stage when students focus on the systematic elaboration by grasping the precise knowledge details;the comprehensive application stage is the stage when students gradually change from the knowledge details to the active application of principles and practice.The romantic stage takes full freedom as the keynote,the precise stage takes discipline under self-discipline as the main feature,and the comprehensive utilization stage is the essential freedom after discipline.The three-stage cycle is a process that starts with romance,goes through precise development,comes to comprehensive application,and then starts from romance,and is also a process characterized by "freedom discipline freedom".Whitehead believes that the art of education lies in adjusting freedom and discipline to adapt to the natural development of students' personality.The inspiration of Whitehead's view of educational rhythm to the current education is mainly reflected in the following aspects: educators should grasp the educational cycle and rhythm in general,and promote the overall development of students;in the romantic stage of education,children should be given full freedom,and their boundless nature should be cared for;in the precise stage of education,the relationship between freedom and discipline should be handled well to cultivate students In the stage of comprehensive application of education,we should follow the essential spirit of freedom and improve the practical application ability of students.
