Under The Perspective Of Governance Theory, College Students Participate In The Research Of College Governance

University students’ participation in university management,which puts students first,is an important part of the modern university system and a significant symbol of the connotative development of higher education.It has obvious responsibility-oriented function and imperceptible self-improvement function.It can make university governance be more democratic and scientific as well as reflect the ideas of governance advocated by the times on the one hand,and improve students’ sense and ability of participation;the sense of ownership;the sense of belonging to the university on the other hand.This thesis aims to analysis the problems of university students’ participation in university management under the perspective of governance theory.It is beneficial to the perfection of governance theory and solves the problems of university students’ participation in university management practice.Governance theory emphasizes the participation of multiple subjects and advocates free and equal participation.The subjects of the governance are exploring and practicing constantly on the basis of equality,freedom and democracy to jointly achieve democratic governance.Governance theory provides a new theoretical basis for studying university students’ participation in university management.The thesis can be divided into five chapters.The first chapter is introduction which briefly shows the background and significance of the topic selection of the thesis,summarizes the relevant research status at home and abroad,clarifies the research ideas and methods of the thesis.In the second chapter,the author defines the related concepts,elaborates the relevant contents of governance theory and provides corresponding problem awareness and theoretical support for analyzing the problems existing in the current university students’ participation in university governance and bringing forward the improvement measures.In the third chapter,the author takes X university as an example to make the investigation through questionnaires and interviews.Lacking of detailed rules and regulations in top-level design of university;belated feedback towards students’ opinions;lacking of effective participation platforms for students and insufficient of depth and breadth of students’ participation are the main problems in the process of students’ participation in university governance in X university from the perspective of governance theory.In the forth chapter,the author briefly describes the experiences from other universities in the United States,the Republic of China and the new period.The top-level design in universities in the United States highlights the dominant position of students;students’ union was vested with the relatively power from the universities in the Republic of China;and the universities in the new era have diverse channels of participation such as “assistant to the president” and “inviting the president”.Through this case study,the experience that is worthy of reflection and reference for the universities will be sought,and several targeted solutions will be put forward on this basis.Through practical investigation,in-depth reflection and theoretical analysis of governance,the author draws the conclusion in chapter five.The first is to establish a governance concept that advances with the times and create a democratic campus atmosphere.Students should improve their sense and ability of participation,and university administrators should support students to manage by themselves.The second is to optimize the structure of multi-subject participation in governance,build a new type of partnership,and start from the aspects of sound system construction and detailed contents of students’ participation.Universities should introduce students’ participation at the institutional level and make the contents of participation be detailed and systematic.The third is to improve the students’ participation platform and smooth the channels for students’ participation.Through the online and offline participation platform jointly and the combination of student union and the new media,students’ participation in university governance will be improved.
