Action Research On Robot Teaching In Middle And High Grades Of Elementary School Incorporating Design Thinking

Abstract/Summary:
Recently,the field of education has ushered in the craze of STEM,makers,robots and artificial intelligence.LEGO robots carrying multi-educational ideas have gradually entered the classrooms of primary and secondary schools.However,there are still a series of problems in the current teaching of robots,such as traditional and single teaching methods,lack of classroom innovation,and teachers can not provide support tools for students’ thinking process.These are all students who have difficulty in cultivating high-order thinking.Students imitate the ability to build and have weak innovation and build ability.They do not understand iteration when completing the robot design challenge task,and are more afraid of the important reasons for failure.Many studies have shown that design thinking can help stimulate students’imagination,help students become masters of their own learning,and enable them to have the tools and confidence to change the world in the 21st century,where information technology is developing at a high speed.Previous studies have used a variety of methods to incorporate design thinking into the classroom,and have discussed the problems that arise during the integration process.In this study,design thinking is integrated into the primary school robot classroom learning environment in different ways.The iterative rapid prototyping emphasized by the design thinking process and the description of errors as learning opportunities are the focus of this study.Educators believe that the design thinking process is a way to teach a comprehensive STEM curriculum and helps students engage in constructivist learning and develop 21st century skills.Most importantly,students explore different aspects of design thinking when creating prototypes,sketches,and projects.They were energetic and challenging when they completed the design challenge tasks in the robotics classroom because they brainstormed with their peers,continually iterative testing,learning from failure,and ultimately succeeding.In this study,the teacher is also a researcher.The author tried to innovate classroom teaching and integrated design thinking into a one-semester elementary school robot course,and developed 30 lesson plans.Using a practical research-oriented action research method,a robot teaching program incorporating design thinking was implemented for the A-Primary LEGO EV3 robot case class in30 class hours.In the teaching,the author has collected relevant data in the implementation process.including classroom observation notes,class photos,study logs,interview records,teaching reflections,etc.,and continuously applied the entire primary school robot teaching plan integrated into design thinking.Revised.After the implementation of the program,the students will carry out a questionnaire survey on design knowledge,iteration tendency and attitude towards failure,so as to conduct an in-depth analysis of the progress of the students in the implementation of the robot teaching program integrated into the design thinking,so as to verify the effectiveness of the teaching program.Sex.In order to solve the three major research problems:(1)According to the design thinking method,how to design a high school robot teaching program in primary school?(2)Does the robotic curriculum incorporating design thinking teach students to have greater iteration tendencies in the face of complex problems,to be able to revisit failures and learn design knowledge?(3)What reflections and growth did the researchers have in the process?This study believes that design thinking can be well integrated into robot teaching and can be designed for one semester in a combination of theory and practice.After the implementation of the program,the collected quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed.The results showed that students’ design knowledge,iteration tendency,attitude towards failure and learning motivation all improved significantly.Teachers can reflect on design thinking as an innovative classroom teaching method after class,and can solve the challenges encountered in teaching.At the same time,the integration of design thinking can provide a support and method for students to design their works,so that students can make full use of their imagination.And creativity,to produce a variety of unique works;in this process,teachers have to practice repeatedly in order to become an effective promoter in the classroom of design thinking.The article concludes with the idea that design thinking is integrated into teaching and recommendations for future research,with a view to promoting the promotion of design thinking in school classrooms.
