Teachers are the main body of educational practice,the implementers of educational purpose,the designers,leaders and organizers of educational activities.Therefore,teachers have a crucial influence on the improvement of educational level.STEM education is an interdisciplinary educational concept that focuses on the integration of science,technology,engineering and mathematics and the practice on students' hands-on ability.It also emphasizes the dominant position of students in class.At the national level,STEM education has been a part of Chinese national curriculum standards at present.In the compulsory primary school science curriculum standards issued by the ministry of education in 2017,special attention has been paid to STEM education which is an important part of the new curriculum standards.Through researching papers related STEM education,this paper finds that STEM teachers' professional quality plays a key role in promoting STEM education in China;However,there are no professional STEM teachers in primary schools in jiaozhou city at present,most teachers engaged in STEM teaching are primary school teachers in STEM related subjects such as mathematics,science,educational technology and comprehensive practice.Firstly,taking STEM related teachers in elementary school of Jiaozhou city for example,it investigates current professional quality of the STEM teachers in elementary school in details by questionnaire investigation.Secondly,in combination with the results of the survey,it analyzes the problems and influencing factors in STEM teachers' professional quality,and put forward the final primary school STEM teachers' professional level upgrade strategy.Through the investigation and analysis on the professional qualities of STEM teachers in primary schools,this paper will have a positive impact on improving the level of STEM education in primary schools,and puts forward feasible methods and Suggestions for the current situation of teachers' professional quality in STEM subjects in primary schools;Finally,It draws a conclusion.These conclusions will play a positive role in promoting STEM education in primary schools and hopefully contribute to the development of STEM education in China.But because of time constraints,the strategies proposed in this study to improve STEM teachers' professional quality have not been put into practice.Therefore,it is more important to track and focus on the implementation of strategies of improving STEM teachers' professional quality in the future.
