The concept of the mental model was first proposed by the psychologist Kenneth Craik.Scholars have conducted extensive research on mental models in the fields of education and psychology. Some scholars have focused on the research topic of "types of mental models" and conducted fruitful research. Some scholars have carried out research on the inner working mechanism of mental models and the influencing factors. So,what factors have an impact on the type of mental model? What impact will it have? In this study, the redox knowledge was used as the carrier to design the redox reaction problem in different situations, and the influence of problem characterization on the type of redox mental model was discussed. This study first comb and review related literature, defines the concept of mental models and problem representation.Secondly, based on the connotation of the redox mental model and the research needs, the redox concept test questionnaire and the redox reaction problem solving questionnaire were developed.Then,572 students from the 2nd and 3rd grades of the 3provincial-level standardized schools in Shandong Province were selected as the research objects, and the redox concept questionnaire was used to conduct the actual measurement: on the one hand, through the analysis of questionnaires, and combined with the recommendation of the teacher,9 gifted students were selected as the next research object,on the other hand, the type of redox mental model of 9 gifted students was determined by coding and analyzing the questionnaire. Finally, using the redox response problem solving questionnaire as the testing tool,9 gifted students were tested by using the thinking aloud technology.Relevant data were collected and processed to analyze the problem representation of gifted students and explore the influence of problem representation on the redox mental model type of gifted students. The research shows that: First, when the valence-type redox mental model gifted student solve the redox reaction problem, the problem situation has no significant effect on the problem representation, and the problem representation is also inconsistent with its redox mental model.Second, when the valence + gain and loss electronic redox mental model gifted students solve the redox reaction problem, the problem situation has no significant effect on the problem representation, but the problem representation is consistent with its redox mental model.Third, when the gain and loss of electronic redox mental model gifted students solve the redox reaction problem, the problem situation has a significant impact on the problem representation, and the problem representation is consistent with its redox mental model. The innovations of the thesis are mainly reflected in the following aspects: First, the redox reaction problem solving questionnaire is compiled, which provides a reference and new testingtool for future research.Second, the influence of problem representation on different types of redox mental models is proposed, which provides a new theoretical basis for creating redox teaching situation in the future.
