With the continuous development of education science,the demand for using scientific methods to analyze students' academic performance has been growing.Since the release of the Coleman report,researchers have studied a wide range of factors,starting with the family environment that may affect academic performance.The current study was based on TIMSS 2011 big data open to the outside world.China's Hong Kong eighth-grade students were selected as participants and the method of literature review and structural equation modeling were applied.It was found that:Students' academic performance was affected by their family background.There was a positive correlation between academic performance and family background.The higher the family background score,the better the students' academic performance.Students' academic performance was affected by the sense of belonging to the school.There was a positive correlation between students' academic performance and their sense of belonging to the school.The higher the score of sense of school belonging,the better the academic performance.Students' academic performance was affected by their interest in learning.There was a positive correlation between students' academic performance and their interest in learning.The higher their interest in learning,the better their academic performance.Students' family environment can directly affect their academic performance and indirectly affect their academic performance through the intermediary of school belonging and learning interest.Family background played a role in academic performance through the continuous mediators of school belonging and learning interest.Among which,the family background had the greatest direct influence on academic performance,while the influence of family background on students' learning interest was mainly achieved through the school sense of belonging as an intermediary.Based on the above results,the author held that parents should improve their own cultural and self-cultivation level,and take an active part in students' daily study and life.They were also supposed to create a comfortable family atmosphere and material environment for students.Schools should actively communicate with parents and increase investment in new teaching methods and actively guide students' learning interest,to ensure the safety of students and give students an appropriate campus learning environment.Through the joint efforts of students,parents,and schools,students can develop better.
