A Study On The Expansion Of Educational Expenditure And The Crowding Effect Of Primary School Students' Families In Shanghai

Education is a key issue that affects the future development of every family and the country as a whole.The importance of education has become the consensus of every family.In particular,most of the families in the moment are only children,and it is better to let them have a good education.However,it is worth noting that after the popularization and free of compulsory education,the proportion of extended education expenditure to household consumption has increased year by year,even exceeding the normal level that some families can bear.Of course,the rapid growth of educational consumption reflects,to a certain extent,the importance that families attach to education,and has a positive side in improving the overall quality of the people and promoting social progress.But if you rely too much on the family to bear,it may make those households that are generally not wealthy to compress other consumer spending,that is,the crowding effect on other household expenses.This study takes Shanghai’s primary school students as the main research object.Using the sample data of the China Family Tracking Survey(CFPS)database implemented by the China Social Science Research Center of Peking University,using the literature method,interview method and case method,2356 Shanghai primary school students Family education expenditures were described and analyzed.Firstly,by examining the current situation and dynamic changes of family education expenditure,it is found that the growth rate of family education expenditure is obviously faster than that of family income.The proportion of extended education expenditure in family education expenditure is much higher than that of basic education expenditure,and the ratio rises with grade.High and increase.Specifically,the most popular among the extended education expenditures is the tutoring training,which is the main content of the curriculum supplement and training and talents;English tutoring is the most popular supplementary choice,and the overseas summer vacation is becoming a family expansion education.Spending new trends in the future.Based on these current situations,from the perspectives of basic consumption,marginal propensity to consume and income elasticity,it is considered that the expansionary education expenditure has a certain crowding effect on household food expenditure and residence,and further cases support this conclusion.Finally,from the three levels of government,school and family,how to guide parents to reduceirrational and expansive education expenditure,promote the rationalization of family education expenditure,and make relevant suggestions for the better development of compulsory education.The government should further adjust the income distribution pattern,increase investment in education,and improve relevant policies and regulations.Schools can better meet the needs of families in terms of curriculum development,teaching quality,and teacher literacy.Parents should adjust their mentality and not blindly.Do not blindly follow the rational and targeted investment in education from the reality of the family and the actual situation of the children.
