Because children are different from adults in terms of their cognitive level and physical and mental development characteristics,teaching children Chinese language is relatively independent in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language(TCFL).From textbook compiling to teaching practice,it cannot be confused with teaching adults Chinese.It is precisely because of the special nature of Chinese teaching for children that it becomes very difficult in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.In addition,the number,breadth and depth of relevant research results on Chinese teaching for children are far less than the study of Chinese teaching for adults.Thus research in this area is necessary and valuable.Based on the existing research results and research status of Chinese teaching for children,this thesis starts with the the selection of two basic textbooks of Chinese teaching for children,one of which is Kuaile Hanyu that is widely used and has a good reputation,and the other is Easy Steps to Chinese that has been popular in recent years.The research uses the methods of literature review,quantitative research and comparative analysis to compare and analyze the two sets of textbooks from the whole to the detail.It is expected that through the comparative study of these two sets of textbooks,the research will provide some helpful suggestions to Chinese language teachers on choosing and using proper textbooks,and will also give some useful advice for the future study or compilation of Chinese textbooks for children.The introduction part mainly clarifies the background,significance,research contents,methods and innovation of the research.It gives a general analysis of the Chinese textbooks for foreigners and Chinese textbooks for children.The related literature are sorted out and the status quo of the previous researches is summarized.The first chapter establishes the evaluation criteria for children's Chinese textbooks,and elaborates the basis and content of the evaluation criteria for children's Chinese textbooks.The second chapter makes a contrastive analysis of the overall arrangement and course content of the two sets of textbooks from a macroscopic point of view,based on the concept and principles of compiling Chinese language textbooks.The purpose is to have a clearer understanding of the overall structure of the textbooks and lay the foundation for the comparative analysis in the next chapters.The third chapter analyzes the classification of topics and the classification of topics in the chosen textbooks.From the genre of texts to the statistics of the length of texts,the two sets of textbooks are compared in detail.It is intended to analyze whether the contents of the two primary Chinese textbooks are close to life in terms of topic classification,or are in linewith the cognitive level of young Chinese learners.The fourth chapter starts from the perspective of micro-knowledge,and carries out detailed quantitative statistics and comparative analysis on the three major aspects of vocabulary,grammar and culture in the two sets of textbooks,and summarizes the pros and cons of the setting and presentation of language elements in the two sets of textbooks.The fifth chapter makes a quantitative analysis on the amount of after-class exercises of the two textbooks,and makes a comprehensive classification of the types of exercises.Based on the statistical data and classification,the comparative analysis of the after-class exercises of the two textbooks is carried out.A summary is also made of the similarities and differences between the arrangements of the after-school exercises in the two sets of textbooks.The sixth chapter makes a comprehensive summary of the advantages and disadvantages of the two textbooks according to the comparison of the first four chapters.Through the interview survey and the integration of the survey results,the teacher's evaluation on the use of the two textbooks is illustrated respectively.The seventh chapter,aiming at the shortcomings of the two textbooks,puts forward some helpful Suggestions for teachers to use the textbooks for teaching activities,and puts forward some useful Suggestions for the development of Chinese textbooks for overseas children in the future.
