An Analysis Of The Socio-economic Factors Of The Growth Of Leading Talents

Academicians are generally regarded as leading figures in China’s higher talents.What are the influential factors for them to become academicians?In this paper,533 academician candidates of the academy of engineering in 2017 were selected as research objects to study the influence of social and economic factors on whether candidates can be elected academicians.In reference on the basis of related literature at home and abroad,we introduced the classification of the logistic regression model,the key research education,social status,social factors,such as urbanization and economic development level,economic openness and economic factors such as r&d spending on whether the role of the elected academicians,and at the same time control the age,sex,P_value and regional variables.The selection of academicians of the Chinese academy of engineering is first recommended by the Chinese association for science and technology,or recommended by three or more academicians,and then a second round of evaluation is conducted for preliminary selection,and the final round of selection is decided by the vote of all the voting academicians.Based on the multi-category logit model of social and economic factors,this paper found that in the second round of selection,the influence of social status and urbanization level in social variables was significantly positive.The influence of r&d investment in economic variables is significantly positive.In the final selection stage,social status and urbanization level had significant positive effects.Among the economic variables,the r&d investment is significantly positive and the economic openness is significantly negative.In addition,in the second round of academician selection,the control variable of national science and technology award has a significant impact;In the final round,age and national science and technology P_value have significant influence.In conclusion,we find that economic and social variables such as research and development investment,economic openness,urbanization level and social status have an important impact on whether candidates can enter the next stage or be elected as academicians.These empirical evidences have important practical significance.Accordingly,we put forward some countermeasures and suggestions:one is to focus on creating an economic and social environment for the growth of scientific research talents;Second,we should fully endow scientific research talents with career space for growth.Third,leaders should realize the importance of improving their own literacy.
