Improving math academic achievement effectively has been a popular research topic in mathematics education,mathematics learning burnout and mathematics self-concept both have a major impact on math academic achievement.In the past,there are plenty of researches to explore the relationship between mathematics learning burnout and math academic achievement,or the relationship between mathematics self-concept and math academic achievement.However,the relationship among the three is rarely studied by researchers.On the basic of analyzing the relevant articles,we try to explore the further relationship among the three through some investigations.Besides,we attempt to validate the existence of mediating effect.The result indicates that:(1)Nowadays,mathematics learning burnout of most junior middle school students is below the average level.Mathematics learning burnout has differences in gender and grade,but the differences of gender show no significance.Overall,the development of mathematics learning burnout in grade presents a inverted U-shape trend.(2)Mathematics self-concept of most junior middle school students is over the average level.Mathematics self-concept has no significant differences in gender and grade.The development of mathematics self-concept in grade drops dramatically and then gets stable.(3)There is a significant negative correlation between the junior middle school students'mathematics learning burnout and their math academic achievements.There is a significant positive correlation between students' mathematics self-concept and their math academic achievements.Moreover,both mathematics learning burnout and mathematics self-concept can predict math academic achievements effectively.Compared to mathematics learning burnout,mathematics self-concept has more influence on their math academic achievements.(4)There is a significant negative correlation between the junior middle school students' mathematics learning burnout and their mathematics self-concept,and the interaction between mathematics learning burnout and mathematics self-concept to math academic achievement is not significant.The influence of mathematics learning burnout on math academic achievement is mediated by mathematics self-concept.Likewise,the influence of mathematics self-concept on math academic achievement is mediated by mathematics learning burnout.Both are incomplete mediating effects.(5)Reducing mathematics learning burnout of junior middle school students and improving their mathematics self-concept can both contribute to the promotion of a better teaching result.
