This study takes education information publicity as theme and uses the information of the official website as the main object of investigation.By comparing research method and case study method,the paper makes a detailed comparison of the policies and practices of education information disclosure between China and the United States.First of all,this paper sorts out the concept of education information disclosure,and summarizes relevant literature.The second part of the thesis sorts out China’s policies on education information publicity,while taking the official website of the Department of Education of Jiangsu Province,Guangdong Province and Gansu Province,and the official websites of Bureau of Education of Nanjing,Suzhou,Lianyungang,Guangzhou,Shenzhen,Shaoguan,Lanzhou,Tianshui,Dingxi,and the official websites of three schools each city,to examine the status quo of China’s basic education information disclosure.Although the official websites of China’s education departments have been constantly improved,there are still some problems.Such as,information disclosure is not timely,content is not comprehensive,lack of negative information disclosure,educational data is lack of details,and so on.There are also problems of web pages not being found and columns empty.The third part of the paper reviews the policy of education information publicity in the United States,and then applies to websites of Department of Education of California,of Massachusetts,and of Minnesota,and websites of Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District,Irvine Unified School District,Los Anggeles Unified School District,Newton Public Schools,Lexington Public Schools,Public Schools of Brookline,Wayzata Public School District,Eden Prairie Public School District,St.Cloud Public School District,and the websites of each school to examine the status quo of information disclosure in basic education field in the United States.The information of US Education Department official websites are more related to the needs of parents and their children.The education data is detailed,the sources of information are clear,and the columns are rich in contents.However,the update frequency is relatively slow and there is a phenomenon that web pages cannot be found.The educational official websites of China and of the United States have great differences in the style,comprehensiveness of content,data specificity,and update rate.The information of educational websites in China are more ideological,incomplete,general,and the updating is unstable.The pages of the US educational website are"substantial",more specific,detailed,and the updating is slow but stable.At the end of the thesis,some surgestions are proposed to improve education information publicity of China,which include changing traditional ideas,making more education information disclosure policies,and promoting education information disclosure practices.
