Gorky said: "Books are the ladder of human progress." One's progress and development cannot be separated from the help and guidance of many excellent books.Books occupy an important place in the development of our lives.Students' acquisition of knowledge from textbooks alone does not satisfy their need to recognize the society and the world.It also needs to be supplemented by a large amount of extracurricular reading.Extracurricular reading not only allows students to more fully understand the world they are curious about from all aspects,but also affects the development of students' language ability and thinking ability,the formation of personality and character,help to improve their overall quality.And help them become an ideologically and culturally comprehensive person.The importance and significance of extracurricular reading for the development of young people is obvious.Our country attaches great importance to education reform,focusing on students' comprehensive ability,the reform process will continue to move forward.In order to understand the situation of extracurricular reading in township schools,the paper took students from Hongyang Middle School in Zibo City,as the object of investigation.Through questionnaire survey and data analysis methods,we will understand the reading situation of Hongyang Middle School and investigate students' extracurricular reading knowledge,reading time,reading volume,reading content and reading environment etc,to identify problems and propose improvements to school reading,put forward suggestions that can improve school reading.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the article is divided into four parts:The first part introduces the meaning of extracurricular reading,and summarizes the research status of extracurricular reading at domestic and foreign,and understands the research status of extracurricular reading.The second part mainly analyzes the results of the investigation on the status of extracurricular reading in Hongyang Middle School.After analyzing the survey results,it is found that Hongyang Middle School has advantages in the students' understanding of the extracurricular reading,reading contents,but there are still problems in the students' extracurricular reading and reading time.The third part is based on the survey results,and analyzes the factors influencing extracurricular reading in Hongyang Middle School from the following three aspects:teachers and students pay insufficient attention to extracurricular reading,the irrationality of extracurricular reading teaching methods,and the inevitable impact of the social environment,and Finally,summarize the three aspects of the overall impact of students' extracurricular reading.The fourth part puts forward suggestions for improving the extracurricular reading in Hongyang Middle School: change the concept of reading and improvethe status of extracurricular reading;paying attention to professional guidance and evaluation and carry out various reading activities;enriching reading resources and improving hardware conditions.There are many problems in the extra-curricular reading of Hongyang Middle School,other middle schools may also have similar problems.The article analyzes the causes of the problem and recommendations have some reference to schools with similar problems.It can improve the level of extracurricular reading in township schools and promote the students' all-round development.
