With the rapid development of China’s social politics and economy,more and more couples are divorced or one of them dies due to emotional breakdown.Their minor children live together with their parents,while the one who lives together with them chooses to go out to work in order to improve the family conditions.Their children are raised by their grandparents,which forms a special social group "single parent left behind children".The number of single parent left behind children in rural areas is increasing year by year in China,and they are faced with double dilemmas of "single parent" and "left behind".There are not many academic articles about single parent left behind children in China,and there are few government policies for this group.Whether at the academic level or at the policy level,single parent left behind children are in urgent need of more attention.Based on this,this paper tries to understand the family situation,school performance,psychological status of left behind single parent children,through case work intervention,to explore ways to help left behind single parent children develop good learning behavior.Based on the data provided by the Civil Affairs Office of B Town,Wan’an County,Ji’an City,Jiangxi Province,the author conducted a field visit to the left behind children of B town.By means of questionnaire and interview with relevant personnel,the family and education of single parent left behind children in town B were understood.From the interview,we know that the left behind children of single parent in town B generally have the following problems: the cultural level of guardians is low,they can’t help their studies;they lack the guidance of parents’ education,and they have developed some bad life and behavior habits in their childhood.From the perspective of social work,through interviewing the case owner,teachers,grandmothers,fathers and other surrounding groups,guided by the ecosystem theory and relevant literature,this paper uses the case social work method to intervene in the research,and helps single parent left behind children to build a school,family,surrounding environment and other support systems,so as to help them develop good learning behavior.After the closure of the case,the author used observation and interview methods to understand the satisfaction of the service objects,their fathers,grandmothers and teachers,and evaluated the improvement of the learning behavior of the service objects.The single parent left behind children a changed significantly,achieving the expected effect of case work intervention.Finally,the author summarizes and reflects on the whole process of case work intervention,and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to help rural single parent left behind children establish good learning behavior.Although the case intervention achieved the expected effect,it still needs long-term observation whether the service object can maintain the established good learning behavior,and it is not enough to help single parent left behind children only rely on the strength of social workers,which requires the joint efforts of family,school,society,government and other forces.
