Research On The Needs Assessment Of Distressed Minors

In recent years,much attention has been paid to the growth and development of underprivileged teenagers.In order to ensure a good growth environment for underprivileged teenagers,the government of X District,N City has carried out a needs assessment project for this disadvantaged group,that is,to evaluate the current situation and needs of underprivileged teenagers.Based on the needs assessment project of X District,N City,this study mainly involves two questions:how to evaluate underprivileged teenagers' degree of difficult situation?How can the needs of such teenagers be assessed more professionally?This study on one hand is conducive to improving the standards and content quality of needs assessment,and making more underprivileged teenagers guaranteed.On the other hand,it helps with the enhancement of needs assessment content and process,makes contribution to more accurate needs assessment results and gives an important reference to the intervention of social work in the service project.This study was based on ecological systems theory,social constructivism and relevant theoretics about needs assessment,and relevant data were collected through interviews,field observation,literature review etc.In the course of analysis,it is discovered that there remains several deficiencies of needs assessment:First,its assessment criteria is doubtful and the evaluation process is not thorough enough.Second,the in-depth Interviews in assessment still needs to be improved while part of the assessment information is not accurate enough.Third,the evaluation opinions are not detailed.Fourth,the assessment results are slightly deviated from the fact.The main reasons for these above mentioned problems of needs assessment are as follows:curtness of the assessment proess,less professional assessors,the lack of training and cooperation chances among social work organizations,weak government support etc.Therefore,some feasible suggestions are referred here,such as improving the evaluation criteria and process,standardizing the system of social work organizations and upgrading relevant government mechanisms,so as to better promote the professional development of needs assessment for underprivileged teenagers.
