Music narrative is an important aspect of musical performance,and how to express a touching narrative is also a problem worth pondering in the process of composing musical.American composer,Robert Jason Brown,in the creation of the musical Parade,provides a good example.He uses a lot of dissonant chords,from a dramatically different rendition of That’s What He Said to a desperate narrative rendition of It’s Hard to Speak My Heart.It highlights the desperation and urgency of Leo the Jew to express his innocence when he is treated unfairly.This paper studies music symbols,meanings,metaphors and fables in Parade music by analyzing dissonant chords.The result is not a detailed analysis of the whole music,but an analysis of individual music events,to clarify the dissonant chord in Parade to music narrative function.The author uses discordant chords to narrate music narrative in a large number of writing techniques have been running through it,the tone of the whole work played a strong style and color.In the current era of popular musical production in China,these are worth learning listening to.It provides some ideas for the creation of contemporary musical plays in China. |
