Comparison And Practice Of Chinese And English Typesetting In Book Design

In today's global integration,Eastern and Western cultures are increasingly blending,and a cultural harmony has been reached between China and Western society.As the carrier of culture,language and language also keep pace with the times with the development of globalization.Chinese and English translation books and mixed Chinese and English books are increasing day by day.Therefore,the comparative research and practice of Chinese and English typesetting in book design seems more and more practical.Through the collection and investigation of relevant historical documents in the previous period,the author comparatively analyzed the history of Chinese and English fonts,summed up the similarities and differences between Chinese and English fonts,and found that Chinese and English fonts have different structures and temperaments due to their different backgrounds.Therefore,in the book design,if you want to consciously make the sound of the text and render the atmosphere,you need to thoroughly study all aspects of Chinese and English fonts and layouts.Eastern and Western scripts or similar or different history has created Chinese and English fonts in different cultural backgrounds.In terms of fonts,this article analyzes the differences between Chinese and English font structures through the comparative analysis of Chinese and English fonts' glyphs,center of gravity,baseline,Zhong Gong and X height,and then analyzes from "font" to "overall text layout".Its impact on typography.The previous part of the analysis of Chinese and English fonts brought theoretical support.Next,in terms of overall text layout,this article focuses on kerning and line spacing,horizontal and vertical layout,alignment,overall grayscale,and the relationship between text and space.To compare the layout,and then summarize the similarities and differences between Chinese and English typography and the issues that need to be paid attention to when mixing Chinese and English.In the later period of theoretical research,the author carried out the design practice of the book "Hua Shang-Chinese Ancient Female's Costume "(Chinese and English typesetting)from "typesetting to book design" through the previous theoretical guidance.By understanding the temperament of different fonts,the author selects the appropriate font and size during typesetting,adjusts the appropriate word spacing,line spacing and overall grayscale,selects the appropriate layout and alignment according to the text content,and finally according to the spatial relationship of the book,Adjust the overall rhythm and rhythm of the book.These are the key to the designer's good expression of the content in the Chinese and English book layout work.Designers must stand in the reader's perspective and keep "easier to read" in mind,in order to do a better job as a book designer.
