Analyze The Musical Cultural Connotation Of Modern Chinese Art Songs

Modern Chinese art song is a form of song that has gradually emerged in the Chinese music community with the promotion of “the New Culture Movement” and the progress of “Eastward Expansion of Western Culture”.It has not only reached high-level consistence in the relationship between “lyrics and music”,has extremely high artistic value,and contain rich cultural connotations in their songs.These connotations have demonstrated music cultural phenomena beyond songs themselves.They have reflected the spirit of the time,highlighted the spiritual culture required for social progress,and significantly enriched the core of music culture in China.The cultural connotations expressed by art songs are not only the reflection of the “individuality” of a certain composer,but more of the “common appeal” of all composers in art song creation under the same social background.This thesis analyzes the cultural connotations contained in music ontology(lyrics,music,and creation techniques,etc.)of modern Chinese art songs and takes horizontal and vertical perspectives based on the historical development process in the 1920 s and 1930 s.Besides,the thesis adopts the music culture research methods that integrate the three elements of “form,culture,and history”,analyzes the social background,characteristics of personal music creation,and the humanistic environment created by non-music factors.Finally,the thesis discusses the cultural connotations and necessity of inheritance of art songs,explores the “similarities” in cultural connotations of Chinese art songs during this period,and comprehensively summarizes and analyzes the cultural connotations of modern Chinese art songs.
