Research On The Chinese-English Translation Of Long Sentences In Contract Texts

This paper is based on one labor contract.Labor contract is subordinate to legal texts,which are more difficult to translate than other texts.Legal texts,with a large number of sentences with complex structure,are characterized by professionalism,strong logicality and strict wording.These sentences have become a difficulty in contract translation.In this report,the author mainly takes the translation of long sentences in Chinese legal texts as the main research object,and summarizes the difficulties encountered in the process of the English translation,which are the long attributive sentence,compound complex sentence,serial verb construction and Chinese sentences without subjects.Under the premise of summarizing the existing translation methods of long sentences,the author puts forward specific translation strategies for long sentences in this labor contract.Here,the author mainly combines various translation methods in the process of translation,such as considering the whole text first,adopting word order adjustment and combination,etc.Considering the significance of long sentences translation in legal texts,the author,by summarizing her own translation experience,hopes to serve the purpose that conforms to both the English expression and the characteristics of legal language texts when translating such legal texts in the future.
