Shen Congwen is a representative "Style Writer" in the history of modern Chinese Novels. His novels’ styles are informal and show its own unique characteristics, which has attracted numerous researchers. But few scholars pay attention to the issue that how did this stylistic feature come into being and how did it change in the whole creation life of Shen Congwen. The core proposition of Shen Congwen’s philosophy of life is tradition and change, and it also provides a good perspective for the study of Shen Congwen’s novel style.Besides,Shen Congwen was deeply influenced by traditional culture and had got a lot of nutrition from it,especially from historical works and poems. He learned narrative skills from the historical records and obtained the Enlightenment about "divinity" from Lisao.Shen Congwen set up his novels’ tone by what he got from Traditional literature, such as Shiji and Lisao. At the same time,he also pursued change in his literary creation and used many new ways of writing to improve his skills. His works became more and more comprehensive and complex by using diverse narratives and themes. He gradually changed from a storyteller to a singer in 1940 s,which means his creation finally focused on his inner self.Although Shen Congwen’s novel style changing all the time,we can still see the imprint of traditional culture, and it not only benefited from the traditional culture, but also because of his strong life state and sincere pursuit of literature.
