Shen Congwen's "Fiction Criticism" Research

In the research field of modern Chinese literature, great attentions have paid on Shen Congwen’s works,especially in the study of his novels.At the same time,this field has made great achievements. However,Shen Congwen is also an important literary critic,if we want to study Shen Congwen and his works in-depth and comprehensively,his literary criticism will not be ignored. Shen Congwen’s literary criticism text mainly focus on the criticism of new poetry and fiction criticism,and the criticism of new poems are much less than the novel criticisms.Previous studies have taken it for granted that Shen Congwen’s literary criticisms should be studied as a whole,which has make his novel criticisms rarely involved seriously.At the same time,the existing researchs put little attentions on this fact that Shen Congwen also a creative critics.In other words, the research on the interaction between criticism and writing still need to be further studied.This thesis tries to make the reasonable judgment about the status and value of Shen Congwen’s literary criticisms in the history of modern Chinese literature criticism.In order to reach this goal,we will in one hand explain the ideals that Shen Congwen’s novel criticisms put forward on the aspect of the writers and the works.And on the other hand,we also will pay more attention to the interaction between Shen Congwen’s novel criticism and his novel writings.In the first chapter,we are about to discuss Shen Congwen’s criticism about fiction writers’ writing attitude and life experience as well. Shen Congwen believes that a fiction writer should have their own independent views and pay more attention to the experience of life.In the second chapter,we will analyze the specific text criticism of Shen Congwen,and expand the full text respectively from the two angles of the novel language and "abstract Lyric".Shen Congwen requires the language of the novel to achieve modest and kind style,.At the same time,the style of article should have a kind of poetic revelation.In the third chapter,we are about to discuss the characteristics of Shen Congwen’s novel criticism and the reasons for the formation of these characteristics which are be defined by "poetic criticism" and "impressionistic criticism".At the last,we will analyze the reasons in detail,such as "redneck" identity and traditional literary theory.In the fourth chapter,we should mainly discuss the interaction between Shen Congwen’s novel criticism and his novel writings,which will be studied seriously on the following four aspects such as the story, the interest of reader and the poetic style.
