Existentialist philosophy discusses the nihility of the real world and the existence of the individual.Yu Hua’s novels have an obvious theme that concerns about the existence of human beings.Yu Hua’s novels have a deep philosophical consciousness of the thinking and exploration of existence.Yu Hua’s novels often reveal the absurdity of the world and life, and describe the living state of human beings and the way of "living" in the face of living conditions. The writing style of Yu Hua’s novels has gone through the social warmth of "writing self training period" to the absurdity, violence and death in the vanguard narrative stage in 1986,to the warmth and tears decorated survival suffering narrative from 1992,and to the individual survival desire pursuit in the new century Consumerism Era.Yu Hua’s novels have a positive impact on the development of contemporary Chinese literature in terms of challenging traditional literary concepts and the concept of text criticism of "real" thinking, innovative vanguard narrative techniques, and the presentation of text authenticity under "zero degree" narration. However,Yu Hua’s novels in the vanguard stage also have some disadvantages such as form experiment and weak ideology. The existential writing tendency of Yu Hua’s novels, especially the concern and exploration of individual existence, has unique artistic value to Chinese literature.
