Research On Xu Wei's Letters And Calligraphy

Xu Wei was a legendary person in the history of ancient Chinese art.Besides his achievements in poetry,literature,calligraphy,painting,and opera,What attracts people's attention most in the historical literature is that Xu Wei often showcased with his "crazy",and most of his works are grotesque and informal.Therefore,previous studies on Xu Wei's calligraphy mainly focused on his antiquity and creation,personality psychology and calligraphy,scrolls and fake works of poetry manuscripts,as well as the relationship between the origin of calligraphy style and late Ming works,but the researches on his letter-related issues is rare.However,the style of Xu Wei 's letterheads is changeable and the content involves nearly all aspects of Xu Wei 's thoughts and daily life.From the perspective of calligraphy art and historical facts,Xu Wei 's letterheads deserve more attention and analysis.Based on a systematic rearrangement of Xu Wei's letters,this dissertation is to research the calligraphic questions of his letters,exploring the association and difference between his daily writing and artistic creation.This research contains three sections: firstly,it will date,and interpret the content of Xu Wei's letter,analyze his life and characters,research and supplement other aspects to further restore Xu Wei's true life status;then,it will study the calligraphy style presented by Xu Wei's letter,and compares his daily writing state with his creative state of the same period from the aspects of layout and mood with the concepts of “meisheng”,“benwo” and“tiancheng”;last but not least,the cases of Xu Wei's letter is further explored to analyze the relationship between daily writing and creative management in the history of calligraphy,with an intention to supplementing and promoting Xu Wei's calligraphy research.
