Research On English Teaching Strategies Of High School Students Of Arts And Sports

Students with arts or sports talents have become hot topics of social concern.Compared with average students,their needs,focus,capacities and evaluations are quite different.At present,there are many problems in English learning for students with art or sports talents,and teachers are constantly exploring to improve their achievement in English.This paper explored the difficulties that talented students meet in learning English and attempted to examine strategies of enhancing their academic achievement in English.The research tried to know more about the current situation of talented students in English learning.On the basis of literature,the ways of questionnaires and interviews were applied in this research.According to the survey,students with art or sports talents generally have a poor English foundation,a low level of learning ability,a lack of motivation and enthusiasm for learning English,but they are positive,enthusiastic and active in expressing themselves.Combined with the teaching practice,this paper analyzed the characteristics of those talented students and interviewed the students in the experimental group so as to know their needs in English learning and formulate appropriate teaching strategies for them.And after a semester of empirical research,the study observed students' learning and performance,and used SPSS data processing system to analyze students' performance,in order to verify the feasibility of the strategies in the actual teaching.The experimental results show that the teaching strategies,such as reducing the teaching objectives,emphasizing the teaching content,diversifying topics and teaching methods,activating classroom atmosphere,and carrying out more extra-curricular activities in English,are helpful to stimulate the learning interest and motivation of students and improve their English achievements.
