The eagle has a long history in traditional culture.Since the subject of eagle was painted,it has been endowed with various meanings by the painter to express its political thoughts and inner emotions,making it an important part of Chinese flower and bird painting.During the period of development to the Republic of China,when the country was in turmoil and the nation was in danger,freehand paintings on the theme of eagle revealed a stronger realistic orientation and requirements of the times,expressing the national spirit and feelings of the country,with distinctive characteristics of the times.The article takes the freehand painting of eagle theme as the research object in the Republic of China period,and is divided into five chapters.The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the painting art of the eagle theme.It mainly sorts out the image and allegory of the eagle before the Republic of China period,and expounds the two presentation methods of the freehand painting of the eagle theme in the Republic of China period,that is,the traditional innovation and the fusion of Chinese and Western.The second chapter analyzes the cause of the freehand painting of eagle theme from the internal and external troubles of the Republic of China,"Western Learning" and "East Progression".The third chapter is the main chapter of the article,focusing on the analysis of the creative characteristics of eagle theme freehand painting in the Republic of China period.Eagle-style freehand painting emphasizes "realism" in modeling,and advocates that traditional new painters inherit the predecessor's principle of "teaching nature and writing gods in form",and then strengthens it;while advocates of blending Chinese and Western painters use Western The principle of painting explains the eagle's physical structure,emphasizing its objective authenticity.In addition,the painter “implants” his own emotion into the image of the eagle,making it “personalized”.In the composition,the painter enhanced the eagle's "potential" with a variety of patterns to form a strong visual impact;the setting was adapted to the "wildness" and royal style of wealth since the five generations,tending to be concise and full of meaning.The color setting of brushes,inks,and inks is unique due to the different development trends of the painter;the artistic conception of the picture is free from the coldness and loneliness expressed by some literati painters,and presents a vivid artistic conception.The fourth chapter explores the expression of the painter's internal meaning behind the work from three levels: aesthetic ideal,national spirit and life value.The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the significance of eagle-themed freehand painting during the Republic of China and its influence on future generations.By studying the formation background,creative characteristics,expression of painting implication and influence of future generations of eagle theme freehand painting in the Republic of China period,we can find that eagle theme freehand painting in this period echoes the theme of the times,both inheriting traditional Chinese painting and daring to accept Western painting as It has its own reference for the creation of Chinese freehand painting.
