Geographical Study Of Handan, The Capital Of Zhao During The Warring States Period

Handan is an ancient city with a history of more than two thousand years,and as early as the Spring and Autumn Period has been recorded.Since the Warring States Period it was designated as the capital by Zhao State,by the Han Dynasty it was designated as one of the five major economic capitals,Handan played an important role in the early history of our country.It also plays an important role in the development of the form of ancient capital cities in China.Handan has something in common with other six capitals,also has its own uniqueness.The study of Handan can provide ideas for the protection of its Historic and Cultural City,it is also conducive to the cultural function of Handan city as "The Capital of Idioms".This paper makes use of traditional literature,recent archaeological achievements and academic research,study on Handan from the perspective of historical geography.This paper is divided into five chapters.Chapter one:This chapter mainly studies the process of Zhao moving the capitals.From the construction of Jinyang City by Zhao Jianzi to the destruction of Zhao Wang City by Zhang Han,a total of five capital cities were involved.Among them,Jinyang City,Zhongmou City and Handan City are important cities,Geng City and Ping City are secondary cities.From the beginning of Zhao Jing Hou's reign to the incarceration of Zhao Wang Qian.Handan Plays the Capital Function for 159 Years.Chapter two:This chapter mainly studies a survey of Handan City before the Warring States Period and geographical elements of Zhao Guo's establishment of capital city in Handan.The first question mainly analyses the name change of Handan from the end of Shang Dynasty to the Warring States Period.In the Spring and Autumn Period,Handan City,as the county town of Jin,was located in the area of Congtai.The second question analyses the geographical elements of Handan's rise,including traffic conditions,location advantages,economic basis,environmental factors and so on.Chapter three:This chapter mainly studies the development process and layout of Handan City in the Warring States Period.Handan City is composed of Zhao Wang City and Da Bei City.Da Bei City was developed on the basis of county towns in the Spring and Autumn Period,while Zhao Wang City was built and expanded in the mid-Warring States Period.Da Bei City is divided into Palace area,military area,market area,handicraft workshop area,residential area and cultural entertainment place,It's the outer city of Handan.Zhao Wang City is divided into dormitory,Dynasty hall,ancestral temple and so on.It is the palace city of Handan.Chapter four:This chapter mainly studies the layout of Handan suburbs.In the suburbs of Handan,there are military buildings such as Hong Bo Tai and other forbidden gardens,Lu Yuan and the Great Wall of Zhao,as well as graves of kings and nobles.This chapter tries to restore the layout of Handan suburbs during the Warring States Period.Chapter five:Summarize the spatial layout of Handan.Analysis of its characteristics in the form of capital city in the Pre-Qin Period.It also explores its position in the development and evolution of ancient capital cities in China,also explores its position in the development and evolution of ancient capital cities in China.To provide some opinions for Handan to continue to play the role of."Idiom Capital"and to protect famous historical and cultural cities.Academic research on Handan City is mostly focused on one aspect,such as the facilities in the city,the nature of the city,the historical events of Handan,and so on.Some problems,such as the location of Handan City in the Spring and Autumn Period and the development process of Zhao Wang City,have not yet been solved.This paper attempts to restore Handan from the perspective of historical geography,reveals the layout characteristics of Handan City in the Warring States Period and its influence on the planning of future capital cities.
