The Study Of Double-syllable Words In "Mercy Daochang Repentance"

The study object in this thesis is the disyllables of Cibei Daochang Chanfa in Southern and Northern Dynasties.From the perspective of Chinese history,it belongs to the middle ancient period when the Chinese language is also in the transitional stage,including both classical Chinese and spoken language component.In order to meet the requirement of language development,many monosyllables has become disyllables.From a religious point of view,this sutra is compiled by eminent monks of Central Plains and plays an important role in the Chinese Buddhist system.This thesis studies and analyzes the origin,structure and meaning development of disyllabic words in the Buddhist Sutra,in order to reveal characteristics of disyllabic words in Buddhist sutra during the transitional stage,also to promote the understanding and spreading of Buddhist sutra.This thesis discusses from the following aspects:First,introduce briefly about the origin of the Sutra and related research overview.Next,analyse the way of word formation in this sutra,including single-morpheme words and disyllabic compound words.Among them,single morpheme words include transliterated loanwords and alliterative two-syllable terms.The word formation method of disyllabic compound words includes combined form,affix form and overlapping form.The amount of combined form is the most,which includes five word formation methods:coordinative compound,modified compound,verb-object compound,subject-predicate compound,supplementary compound.Moreover,there are also inverse morphemes words in Cibei Daochang Chanfa.Although the proportion is very small,it also reflects the development trend of the diphonization of Chinese language.Then,explore and analyze the semantic generation mode of disyllables and the rule of morpheme meaning compound words in this mantra.Once more,inspect the evolution of word meaning in Cibei Daochang Chanfa,mainly discuss unchanged word meanings,slightly changed word meanings and widely different of word meaning.Finally make a general summary of the whole thesis.
