With its excellent educational resources and widely recognized qualifications,the UK has become one of the popular choices for Chinese students.Studying abroad allows students to access foreign cultures,receive higher education,broaden their horizons and foster independence.However,international students also face many adaptation problems.Previous studies rarely explore cross-cultural adaptation—the correlation between psychological adaptation and sociocultural adaptation and psychological well-being.Social support is widely recognized as an important factor in helping individuals to adapt to and influence their individual well-being.Therefore,by exploring the links between cross-cultural adaptation,social support and psychological well-being,it is helpful to further clarify the psychological mechanism of cross-cultural adaptation and mental health of international students.This study used Chinese students from several well-known universities in the UK as a research object to conduct a questionnaire survey of Chinese students in the UK using the sociocultural adaptation scale,the psychological adaptation scale,the social support scale and the simplified Chinese version of the psychological well-being scale.the study.This study used SPSS 20.0 for reliability and validity analysis,descriptive statistics,difference test,and correlation analysis.Mplus was used to test the mediating role of sociocultural adaptation and psychological adaptation in social support and psychological well-being.Research indicates:(1)The level of social support of Chinese students in the UK is generally the highest,followed by the lack of social support,and the third is the level of social support;(2)There are differences in psychological adaptation between genders,which is manifested in the fact that meds psychological adaptation level is higher than female psychological adaptation level.There is no gender difference in social and cultural adaptation,social support and psychological well-being.There is no academic difference in psychological adaptation,sociocultural adaptation,social support and psychological well-being;(3)There is a significant positive correlation between psychological adaptation,sociocultural adaptation,social support and psychological well-being.The six dimensions of psychological well-being are also significantly positively correlated with sociocultural adaptation and psychological well-being,but self-acceptance and life goal dimensions.There is a negative correlation with social support,and self-acceptance is significantly negatively correlated with social support;(4)The mediating effect of psychological adaptation between social support and psychological well-being is significant,and the mediating effect of sociocultural adaptation between social support and psychological well-being is significant;(5)There are significant differences in the mediating role of gender in sociocultural adaptation.The specific manifestation is that men will show a better level of sociocultural adaptation after they perceive social support,and thus reflect a higher level of social psychological well-being.;(6)There is no significant difference in the mediating role of gender in psychological adaptation;(7)Psychological adaptation and sociocultural adaptation play a parallel intermediary role in social support and psychological well-being.In the end,we have come to the conclusion that social support,sociocultural adaptation and psychological adaptation will have a positive impact on psychological well-being.Improving social support and sociocultural adaptation or psychological adaptability can improve the psychological well-being of international students.
