The main content of this paper is to tentatively card the theory of " pictophonetic"in the 20th century.The first part of this paper is an introduction,in addition to the introduction,there are seven chapters in this paper.The introduction mainly includes two parts:one is a brief description of the origin of the topic and research methods;the other is an introduction and comment on the research status of this topic at home and abroad.The first chapter is an overview of the 20th century's "pictophonetic",which mainly includes two parts:one is to discuss the important works related to the study of pictophonetic characters in the 20th century,and the other is to discuss the important papers related to the study of pictophonetic characters in the 20th century.The second chapter is about the formation of pictophonetic characters,mainly carding the research results of scholars in the 20th century on the ways of producing pictophonetic characters.Compared with previous generations,scholars in the 20th century have studied the ways of producing pictophonetic characters relatively thoroughly.Based on this,scholars in the 20th century also solved many problems in the study of pictophonetic characters.The third chapter is about the definition and rank of "pictophonetic",which is mainly divided into two parts.The definition of "pictophonetic" by scholars in the 20th century was discussed in the first part.In this paper,there are three theories on the definition of pictophonetic characters by scholars in the 20th century.They are "equal stress on pictophonetic","Shape oriented " and "Sound oriented " respectively.The second part mainly discusses the position of "pictophonetic" in the traditional " Liu Shu" and other Chinese character classification systems.It mainly involves three aspects,one is the position of " pictophonetic" in the traditional "Liu Shu",the other is the position of "pictophonetic" in the "San Shu theory",and the third is the position of"pictophonetic" in the classification system of other Chinese characters.The fourth chapter is about the classification of pictophonetic characters,mainly discussing the different classification methods of pictophonetic characters by scholars in the 20th century.In this study,the classification of pictophonetic characters by scholars in the 20th century not only follows the previous generations,but also has innovations.Following the previous generations is manifested in that many scholars in the 20th century classified pictophonetic characters according to the classification methods of previous generations.After our preliminary induction,there are three types of classification,one is to classify by the characteristics of configuration the other is to classify by whether the phonetic side expresses meaning,and the third is to classify by the relationship between the phonetic side and pronunciation.Many scholars in the 20th century still classify the pictophonetic characters in this way.The innovation lies in that,with the study of the ways of producing pictophonetic characters,many scholars try to classify pictophonetic characters in different ways.which is the innovation of scholars in the 20th century.The fifth chapter is about the study of the meaning element and the sound element of pictophonetic characters.This chapter is divided into three parts.The first part mainly discusses the research results of the 20th century scholars on the meaning element.The second part mainly discusses the research results of the 20th century scholars on polymorphism and polyphony.The third part mainly discusses the research results of the 20th century scholars on the sound element.Among them,studies for the meaning element mainly discuss three aspects:the meaning element functional studies,the meaning element classification studies and "provincial form" studies.The research on the sound element mainly discusses three aspects,namely,the function of the sound element indication,the function of the sound side indication source and the problem of"sound-saving".Chapter six is the study of "pictophonetic" concurrent book,which is mainly divided into three parts:the first part discusses the study of the combination of"pictophonetic" and "pictographs" by scholars in the 20th century,the second part discusses the study of the combination of "pictophonetic" and "reference" by scholars in the 20th century,and the third part discusses the study of the combination of"pictophonetic" and "understanding" by scholars in the 20th century.The seventh chapter is a general review of the research on the theory of"pictophonetic" in the 20th century,which is divided into two parts:the first part discusses the main achievements of the research on pictophonetic characters in the 20th century,and the second part discusses the shortcomings of the research on pictophonetic characters in the 20th century.Through the analysis and studies of the research results of pictophonetic characters in the 20th century,in this paper,it can draw the conclusion that with the use of ancient text materials,new methods and new theories,the research of pictophonetic characters in the 20th century has made great breakthroughs compared with previous generations,and laid a good foundation for further research.
