D?na is an important concept in Buddhism philosophy,which has the meaning of giving and abandoning.It is not only the inherent requirement of Mahayana's philosophy of reality to practise Bodhisattva's practice,but also the primary method of ethical practice of the six P?ramit?s.The Mah?praj??p?ramit? ??stra is a commentary about Mahayana's scriptures of Praj?a,covers the Buddhist philosophy,doctrine and canon,and is a very important ideological resource for studying the philosophy of d?na and its ethical practice.Using Mah?praj??p?ramit? ??stra,combining with other Buddhist scriptures,this paper gradually penetrates into the theoretical and practical value about Buddhism's concept of d?na.This article mainly focuses on three aspects.First,‘the connotation of d?na and its theoretical base',mainly analyzes the connotation of the idea of d?na and the origin of its concept,clarifies the relationship and connection between d?na and Buddhism's theory including the outlook on life,karma,mercy and pursing for Nirvana.The second is‘the type and characteristics of d?na',explaining the contents of d?na from various aspects,including the principles,classification and its practical characteristics,then exploring the influence of each element of d?na on the practice results.The third is‘the meaning of d?na',exploring the positive role of Mahayana's d?na in personal,family and society,and analyzing the meaning of “benefiting oneself and others” and the relationship between the six P?ramit?s.In general,d?na is a form of externalization practice of compassion for everyone,and different behaviors correspond to different purity of mind.The practice of d?na usually starts form little things,then making progress on their way to Nirvana.As the man could do the stuff with a pure mind,he would like to donating everything which he possesses and then acquire the wisdom of Praj?a that would help him to enter Nirvana.This process shows the characteristics of d?na: Simplicity and Easiness,Increasing,Suny?t?;and reflects its social value: improving personal cultivation,making the domestic relationship more harmonious,promoting social stability;and clarifies the true meaning of d?na: eliminating defilements,increasing wisdom,getting rid of suffering.
