Research On The Development And Evolution Of Chinese Vocabulary In The Wei, Jin And Six Dynasties

Lu Deming(about 550-630)in Tang Dynasty made up the sylloge about Confucian classics' pronunciation and meaning of text of six dynasties and before in 605-618——Jing Dian Shi Wen.The monumental work of language philology recorded “the qualitative change” of Middle Chinese,and reflected the development of Chinese and its research in this period.Studying the language of this representative book is an essential part of the research of Chinese history.This article combines Shuo Wen Jie Zi and General Standard Chinese Characters Table with pertinent literature of Wei Jin and six dynasties to research the evolution of common words.It can pry about the development of vocabulary in the middle ages.The paper are divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces research significance of topic selection,research status at home and abroad,research programmes and research subjects.The second chapter is the main point of the paper.It selects 30 common words in Jing Dian Shi Wen to analysis and research particularly according to the development of form and content.There are four categories:one are the common words' changes in pronunciation;one are the common words' changes in glyph;one are the common words' changes in glyph and pronunciation;one are the common words of no changes in pronunciation and glyph,but developments in meaning and usage.The main methods are as follows: firstly,lists the meaning of the word in Shuo Wen Jie Zi and Shuo Wen Jie Zi Zhu;secondly,counts the numbers of the word in Jing Dian Shi Wen and its meaning and interpretation,and analyzes the differences between pronunciation or meaning with Shuo Wen Jie Zi;thirdly,refers to contemporary literature about Wei Jin and six dynasties to make examples and textual research;finally,summarizes the analysis of each word.To explore the characteristics and laws of common words in Wei Jin and six dynasties by researching four kinds of word.The third chapter summarizes the characteristics if the evolution of vocabulary in Wei Jin and six dynasties.They include the inheritance and development of common words: increase of the term and multiplication of speech;the substitute and change of common words: the changes of words' meaning,the changes of speech,the increase or changes of glyph and the substitute of words.The forth chapter is the epilogue.It mainly states that the development of Chinese vocabulary,and problems and prospects in the research process.
