Research On The Image Of Fan Lihua In "Said Tang San Biography"

Shuo Tang San Zhuan,which is also named as Zheng Xi Shuo Tang San Zhuan,included in the historical volume of Chinese novels about gods and spirits system by Bashu Press,etc.,has eighty-eight chapters,narrates the story about Xue Rengui's,Xue Dingshan's and Fan lihua's expeditions towards west and the uprising against Tang Dynasty by Xue Gang.The earliest edition still existed is from Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty.Despite of being a woman,Fan Lihua plays an important role in this novel.Based on its specific texts,guided by narrative theory,this thesis interprets the multiple identities of Fan Lihua,such as female,general and interracial woman,and the cultural implication behind with the era and social background combined.First of all,combining the relevant historical texts,this thesis explores the authenticity and the origin of Fan Lihua by tracing her history and the literary works related.Then it interprets gender culture about the female identity of Fan Lihua,which is the most essential one,and explores the impacts by the feudal ethics thoughts in Ming and Qing Dynasties and the narrator's narrative strategy.After that,focusing on her general identity,it explains Fan Lihua's fairy spells and excellent achievements and discusses the projections in the novel by the commercialization trend of novels in Ming and Qing Dynasties and narrator's psychology.At last,taking the narrative theory and the national concept of Hua Yi Zhi Bian as an entry point,it interprets the literary and cultural implication of Fan Lihua's interracial woman identity.
