Tragedy is an artistic genre that expresses human emotions and reflects social reality. It is also a very important creative direction in vocal art."Unfortunate Life" and "Yellow River Resentment" are two outstanding tragic works in China."Unfortunate Life" is selected from the opera "Sadness of the Past",the last aria of the heroine’s son in the opera."Yellow River Resentment" is selected from the sixth movement of "The Yellow River Grand Chorus" by Xing Xinghai. It is a soprano solo art song.In view of the tragic nature of the two works, this paper makes a comparative analysis from the aspects of song creation, music elements and singing.By comparing the similarities and differences between the two works in tragic performance and music processing,it provides a reference for the future performance of these two works to better match the characters’ emotions, express the tragic emotions and achieve the tragic effect of singing. It can also help us to distinguish the difference between the two works in the tragic color of the two works,to avoid the "one thousand people" in the tragic performance. So far, many researchers have done a separate music analysis of these two works. However,no one has analyzed their tragic colors, nor has they compared the tragic nature of the two.So the research in this article is very meaningful.
