"Xishan Four Friends" Poetry Research

As a literary group in the Ming Dynasty,"Four Friends of Xishan" has the dual characteristics of diachronic literature and regional space.The poems of Hua Cha,Shi Jian,Wang Maoming and Yao Zhi have the common features of Ming literature and have the color of imitating ancient times.Wuxi’s unique regional culture in the south of the Yangtze River and poets’ different life experiences make their poetry creation unique.Based on this,this paper,from the perspective of the combination of time and space,puts "Four Friends of Xishan" in the framework of Ming Dynasty literature and the local environment of Wuxi,and explores the characteristics of poetry creation and the internal and external motivations that influence poetry creation.The article consists of five parts.The first chapter is mainly about the basic situation of "Four Friends of Xishan",including Huacha’s family life,Shijian’s communication,Yaozi’s writings,and the analysis of historical authenticity combined with historical data.Chapter two elaborates the origin of "Four Friends of Xishan" poetry,which can be traced back to Wei,Jin and Tang Dynasty.It is mainly influenced by the retro trend of thought of "the first seven sons" and "the last seven sons" in Ming Dynasty literature and Yangming’s psychology.Nearly from the local Bishan Yin Club in Wuxi,the actual creation and great momentum of Bishan Yin Club also promoted the formation of the "Four Friends of Xishan" poetic thought.The third chapter focuses on the comparative study of the poetry collection and content of "Four Friends of Xishan",which can be divided into four categories: reclusive meditation,landscape chanting,sorrow for the time,and farewell,from which we can get a glimpse of the social landscape and the poet’s life experience and thoughts.Chapter Four analyses the characteristics of the poetry style of "Four Friends of Xishan",and divides the poetry style of "Four Friends of Xishan" into the style of dilution and elegance,desolation and leanness,magnificence and remoteness from the aspects of poetry image,sentence pattern and the connection with the previous poetry.The fifth chapter is devoted to the study of the causes of the poetry style of "Four Friends of Xishan".The external factors are Wuxi’s regional culture,natural scenery,political economy,social folklore and folk customs;the second is the trend of thought of revival in Ming Dynasty,and innovation in the inheritance of the four.Internal factors refer to the life experience,family culture and personal preferences of "Four Friends of Xishan".Finally,from the perspective of regional literature and literary history,this paper expounds the status and influence of "Four Friends of Xishan" which can not be ignored,and affirms the significance of the study of "Four Friends of Xishan" poetry.
