| The May 4th Movement is a profound ideological enlightenment movement in Chinese society.During the May 4th period,intellectuals were generally trapped in spiritual distress at the same time of "human awakening" and "personality liberation".The feudal autocratic system for human bondage and persecution,imperialism and oppression of feudal warlords,triggered intellectuals dissatisfied with the reality of emotions,and inspire them to resist unjust social order impulses and demands.Therefore,in the May 4th ideological revolution,the seeds of social revolution were bred.Literature is the reflection of the times.With the May 4th Literary Revolution,literary practice which reflects the spiritual distress of intellectuals and carries their realistic ideals has also appeared.Qu Qiubai’s early literary practice is a typical case that reflects the requirement of "revolution".This paper mainly explores the relationship between Qu Qiubai and "revolutionary literature" through literary activities and literary creation.In terms of literary activities,understanding the formation of Qu Qiubai’s "revolutionary" thought is the premise of understanding all his literary activities.Qu Qiubai founded the Ten-Year Journal of New Society and organized the Literature Research Society,which was his way to enter the "revolution".He translated and introduced Russian literature,which provided theoretical resources for the "revolutionary literature".In Qu Qiubai’s early literary activities,the background of "revolution" runs through.As far as literary creation is concerned,the three themes in Qu Qiubai’s early literary works,namely,criticism of the dark reality,construction of the image of Soviet Russia,and concern for workers and proletariat,are different aspects of the "revolution" in the historical context at that time.The historical context before the May 4th Movement and the Great Revolution was the realistic basis of Qu Qiubai’s early creation.Qu Qiubai’s early creation was carried out before the May 4th Movement and the Great Revolution,and thus was branded with a deep mark of the May 4th Movement.Moreover,his creation is a portrait of his thoughts in this historical period,reflecting the author’s imagination and pursuit of "revolution".Through the analysis and elaboration of the above two aspects,we can conclude the significance of Qu Qiubai’s early literary practice in literary history: his literary activities and literary creation are of typical significance for "revolutionary literature".In addition,Qu Qiubai also contributed to the theoretical construction of the occurrence of "revolutionary literature". |
