Research On Jiangxi Seal Cutting In The 20th Century

In the 20^th century,some seal cutting and sphragistic masters such as Chenshiceng,Fubaoshi,Xuyinong,Xiaogaohong emerged in Jiangxi,who had played an important role in the natioanl spragistics profession.Throughout the development of the seal cutting in 20^th century's Jiangxi Provience,the seal cutting had undergone three periods,which were the period of carrying on the style of the Late Qing Dynasty,the period of masters emergence and the period of bringing forth the new from the old.For 100 years,the works of Jiangxi's seal cutting had different styles,some were bold and unconstrained,some were with the current relevance.And the time called“a hundred flowers blossom,a hundred schools of thought contend”appeared.With the great efforts of masters,the textbooks and the first book of Chinese seal cutting history were written,opening an new filed“seal history and culture”on studying sphragistics.The seal cutting education of province-owned Normal University in Jiangxi Province were ahead of the whole country,and it was known as the unique way to inherit the seal cutting by the Hui People.In 20^th century,some seal cutting associations were set up,in the first half,most were commercial,in the second half,both were artistic.And these associations had made great contribution for developing seal cutting masters and blossoming sphragistics.In order to broaden the view of seal cutting,the masters of Jiangxi exchanged ideas with other masters and learn from them by some exhibitions,which had made the seal cutting of Jiangxi have certain place in the whole country.Moreover,some masters led by Fubaoshi carried some international exchanges,helping the chinese seal cutting earn wild approvement in Janpanese art world.This article sorts out the whole development frame of the seal cutting of 20^th century's Jiangxi Province based on some related seal cutting martials.Meanwhile,this article aims to adjust some wrong acknowledgement on seal cutting,then work out an initial study on jiangxi morden seal cutting.
