Peng Dingqiu And His Poetry Research

Peng Dingqiu(1645-1719)was a typical representative of the imperial examinations literati in Suzhou in the early Qing Dynasty.He won the first prize in the fifteen years of Kangxi(1676).He resigned from office because of his difficult career and went home for recuperation.In the forty-four years of Kangxi(1705),Peng Dingqiu and Cao Yin took charge of the school magazine of Quan Tang Poetry,a collection of Tang and Five Dynasties poems compiled by the government in the Qing Dynasty,which was an important event in Peng Dingqiu's later cultural life and in the publishing history of the early Qing Dynasty.Peng Dingxiu's poems and essays mainly focused on the period from his resignation in the 33 rd year of Kangxi(1694)to his death in the 54 th year of Kangxi(1715)This paper takes Peng Dingqiu's NanYun collection of poems and NanYun collection of essays as the research texts,combs the subject matter and content of his poems,and analyses his poetic thoughts and prose creation style.At the same time,the combination of Peng Dingxu's poems and essays with the academic ecology in the early Qing Dynasty and the regional culture in Suzhou further reveals the mentality of scholars in the southern part of the Yangtze River in the early Qing Dynasty.The first chapter is a textual research on Peng Ding's writings of seeking family background and life.The first section examines the formation and influence of family education on Peng Dingqiu's literary outlook from three aspects: his family background,family style and family heritage,which is the basis of his literary creation.The second section deals with Peng Dingxiu's life,which is divided into four stages to discuss his rich and tortuous life experience.The third section is the textual research on the edition of Peng Dingqiu's poetry anthology.Including Peng Dingqiu's compilation style of NanYun collection of essays and the textual research of its versions of poetry and prose works.The second chapter is about Peng Dingxiu's literary communication.We can see the interaction of Peng's family in the local society from his friends,teachers and students,religious figures,local officials and scholars in Suzhou.This chapter combines Peng Dingqiu's specific poems and essays,and combs his literary communication from three aspects: the friendship between teachers and students,the friendship with Suzhou residence and Country Squires,and the friendship with Taoist elites.The third chapter discusses the school magazine of Peng Dingqiu and complete Tang poems.The first section discusses the experience of Peng Ding's school magazine complete Tang poems and his interaction with local officials.The second section introduces the scale of the book,which is discussed from three aspects: the original edition,the layout style and the engraving workmanship.The third section is about Peng Dingqiu's activities during his schooling in Yangzhou.During his work in Yangzhou,Peng Dingxu traveled all over Yangzhou's temples,Taoist temples,scenic spots and many historical and cultural sites.Peng Dingqiu left poems everywhere,many of which still exist today.These poems will help us to study and further understand the history and culture of Yangzhou.The fourth chapter studies Peng Dingxiu's poems.The first section combs the theme and content of Peng Dingqiu's poetry creation in detail,and classifies and analyses the theme and content of his poetry from four different dimensions.The second section elaborates Peng Dingxu's poetic thoughts from two aspects: elegant and mellow,advocating Confucian poetry and nature,advocating truth as beauty.The third section explores the artistic characteristics of Peng Dingqiu's poetry.This paper summarizes three aspects: good use of white sketch,plain language,doing things by reason,full of emotion and all kinds of body,skillful use of allusions.The fifth chapter is Peng Dingxu's prose research.The first section describes the style and ideological content of Peng Dingqiu's prose.The second section takes the literary style and scholar's mentality in the early Qing Dynasty as the breakthrough point,combines the influence of Peng Ding's thought of seeking truth on his prose creation,and expounds Peng Dingzhu's prose creation style from both mellow and elegant and good at reasoning.
