The thesis attempts to analyze the popular New Ballads in mainland China from the perspective of subculture.Through the analysis of its development process and sub-cultural characteristics,this paper reveals the development process of New Ballads from resistance to incorporation.On this basis,it focuses on revealing the important role of the mass media in the process of incorporating the New Ballads and the impact of the incorporation on the New Ballads.In the introduction part,it is mainly sort out the concept definition of subculture and the New Ballads in mainland China and the related research results at home and abroad.It focuses on the Birmingham School’s research on subculture style theory and subculture music,and outlines the academic circles at home and abroad of the New Ballads from the perspective of subculture.First of all,this paper sorts out the development process of the New Ballads in mainland China and its subculture characteristics.Secondly,it mainly analyzes the ideology incorporation and commodity incorporation of the new mass media to the New Ballads.In the process of ideology incorporation,the article sorts out the two popular orientations of the mass media in the field of ideology to the New Ballads:"entertainment" and "mainstreaming".In the process of commodity incorporation,the mass media also adopted the symbolic construction of making "Folk Myth" and "Poetry and Distance" to carry out the acquisition of the commodity form of the New Ballads.Thirdly,part explores the impaction of mass media in incorporating the New Ballads.On the one hand,in the face of the mass media corporation,the New Ballads did not take a completely passive attitude,but gradually accumulated its sub-cultural capital in the corporation,and realized the transformation of sub-cultural capital and social capital and economic capital.On the other hand,it is undeniable that under the compilation of the mass media,the musicians of the New Ballads have become impetuous,the tendency of homogenization and modelling of songs is serious,and even the plagiarism scandal has occurred.The essence of original and independent music has gradually disappeared,and the style of sub-culture has gradually disappeared.Finally,it is the conclusion.This paper thinks that the New Ballads as one of the representatives of the subculture,has been restricted and compiled by the mainstream cultural values.The mass media plays an important role in the process of the collection of the New Ballads.As a sub-cultural music,in the development of nearly two decades,the New Ballads has gone through the process from resistance to incorporation.At the same time,the compilation of mass media also has positive and negative impaction for the development of the New Ballads in mainland China. |
