Roland Barthes believes that photography is very crazy,and its madness is mainly reflected in the authenticity of photography(powerful reproduction attributes);but photography can be domesticated,the most important way is that photography becomes art.How to define photographic art has been discussed by many people,but it is not easy to get an accurate answer.On the other hand,the theory of cultural evolution based on biological evolution theory,Memetics,has been rapidly spread in the humanities and has a very promising application prospect.The core of memetics is that there is a basic unit in the field of culture that is similar to the gene of a creature-meme.The evolution of culture is actually the evolution of memes and follows the general Darwinian evolution,through the evolution of memes.The research can answer many questions about cultural evolution and summarize the laws of cultural evolution.Similarly,the art that belongs to the cultural field also applies to the theoretical model of meme,and the artistic meme is actually the "gene" of art.The most important feature of studying art through meme theory is that art is regarded as the existence of fresh vitality,and the vitality of art conforms to the law of survival of memes.The core of this paper is to use memetics to explore the needs of art for innovation and inheritance,and to study the meme evolution of art and photography.Finally,the essence of photography art is defined.The article first introduces the interaction between biological theory and art research through Gombrich's art research,and focuses on the theory of the study of cultural evolution based on Darwin's theory of evolution-meme theory.The following article interprets the demand of art for innovation and inheritance,the vitality of art and the evolution of artistic meme from the perspective of memetics,and establishes the relevant model of artistic meme evolution.Finally,we study the original features of photography.Combining the essential features of artistic meme can make a definition of photographic art:photography must become the law of life that art must satisfy the artistic meme--the artistic meme to the need for thorough and subversive variability and the inheritance of flexibility Need,therefore,photography art must be flexible in inheriting the "past" and thoroughly mutating and innovating;the powerful copying property of photography itself makes it more difficult to mutate,and no innovative photography can not meet the needs of the human heart,will not have The attributes of art.
