During the period of Later Diffusion of Buddhism in Tibet.many Tibetans contributed to the religious rectification and development of Buddhism in Tibet.Within a century after the demise of Buddhism during the Imperial Period,Buddhism had been badly damaged,and incorrect Buddhist theories and ideas became popular in Tibet.In order to rectify the incorrect theories and revive Buddhism,Tibetan scholars went to India and studied from Indian masters,among which Nag tsho lo ts'a ba tshul khrims rgyal ba,who wrote an eulogium for his master Atisha entitled "Jo bo rje'i bstod pa brgyad bcu ba",was head of the team which invited Atisha to Tibet.Nag tsho lo ts'a ba was a great Buddhist scholar,and was sent to India for scholarship by Lha bla ma byang chub 'od,and his piece of writing for praising Atisha,was written under special historical circumstance.Nag tsho studied with Atisha,both in India and Tibet for nineteen years,so he was the person who studied with Atisha for the longest time.His eulogium for Atisha had been quoted by later scholars.On the basis of Atisha's life story and contribution for Tibetan Buddhism according to Nag tsho's panegyric for Atisha,this paper has been focused on the features,historical circumstance,Atisha's disciple,religious talks,the importance and value of this panegyric in the history of Tibetan Buddhism.
