Research On Chinese Cultural Diplomacy Since The Reform And Opening Up

After the end of the Cold War,especially since the beginning of the 21st century,the pursuit of cooperation and win-win and coordinated development has been recognized by more and more countries.The past military and political hard power competition has gradually turned to the development of comprehensive competition combining hard power and soft power.As an important part of soft power,culture plays an increasingly important role in the country’s comprehensive national strength competition and international exchanges.It has become an important means for countries to carry out international exchanges.In modern international exchanges,whoever takes up the cultural field has occupied an active position.The first chapter gives a detailed overview of the related concepts and characteristics of cultural diplomacy.Cultural and cultural diplomacy has profound and complex connotations.At present,there is no unified consensus.This chapter defines the connotation of cultural,diplomatic and cultural diplomacy.At the same time,it also defines their connotations.Besides,It summarizes the three characteristics of cultural diplomacy and points out that cultural diplomacy is long-term,non-independent and two-way nature.The second chapter is mainly about the development of Chinese cultural diplomacy,especially the development of Chinese cultural diplomacy since the reform and opening up.This chapter divides the development history of China’s cultural diplomacy into three stages:"after the founding of the People’s Republic of China,before the reform and opening up,after the reform and opening up to the 18th National Congress,and the 18th National Congress to the present",with time as the main line for each stage.The Chinese cultural diplomacy work and achievements have been integrated and sorted out.The third chapter summarizes the characteristics and functions of Chinese cultural diplomacy since the reform and opening up.Paying attention to cultural diplomacy is a fine tradition that our party and the country have always maintained.Especially since the reform and opening up,China has earnestly summed up experience and lessons on the basis of adhering to the original scientific understanding and correct practices,so that China’s cultural diplomacy has been realized.Major breakthroughs and developments have revealed the differences in cultural diplomacy beyond ideology.It includes the diversity of cultural and diplomatic participation subjects,the diversity of cultural diplomacy propaganda methods,the comprehensiveness of cultural and diplomatic content systems,and the broadness of cultural and diplomatic exchanges.At the same time,through the continuous exploration and vivid practice of China’s cultural diplomacy since the reform and opening up,China’s cultural diplomacy has fully released its vitality and played its due role.It has not only established a good image of a great power,but also enhanced China’s international influence.and created a favorable external environment,deepened China’s international exchanges,and also maintained China’s cultural security and enhanced China’s cultural soft power.The fourth chapter mainly reviews and explores the challenges and paths of Chinese cultural diplomacy development in the new era.Over the past more than 40 years of reform and opening up,China has made tremendous achievements in cultural diplomacy,but at the same time it faces two challenges from both home and abroad.First,China’s cultural diplomacy faces external challenges from two aspects:differences between cultures and conflicts of ideology.Second,there are some inherent shortcomings in China’s cultural diplomacy,which need to be further optimized,mainly including the following aspects:First,the construction of cultural and diplomatic actors needs to be improved;second,the cultural diplomacy communication path still needs to be optimized.Therefore,in the historical orientation of socialism with Chinese characteristics entering a new era,to further realize new development,we must start from the following four aspects:first,to strengthen the study of cultural diplomacy countries;second,to strengthen the construction of cultural diplomacy.Third,improve the system of cultural diplomacy;Fourth,optimize the path of cultural diplomacy.
