As China’s more efforts in promoting Chinese around the world,the international Chinese teaching characteristics,principles and methods of the teaching contents and teaching forms of research in academic circles appeared the phenomenon of"schools of thought contend",and the debate of teaching media language is one of them.The previous research results show the intermediate language have the effect of teaching auxiliary and communication channel in international Chinese teaching,however,when discussing what is the auxiliary value of intermediate language and how should it specifically operate in the actual circumstances of Chinese teaching,the conclusions of academic are not deep enough.Therefore,the empirical investigation of relevant topics and the suggestions of teaching based on the topic can enrich the contents of the teaching research of international Chinese class to some extent.Barbados is an island country of the Caribbean Sea.After the establishment of diplomatic relations between China,the local people of Barbados has a certain demand for learning Chinese.The spread of Chinese language in Barbados and increasingly widely used in a certain extent improve the Chinese learning enthusiasm of the entire Caribbean.About the use of intermediate language in Chinese language classroom is a very important theme in the primary stage of Chinese teaching development.In the process of discussing Chinese language teaching in Barbados,the author will collect relevant materials for investigation,and focus on the exploration and analysis of teachers’use of English as a intermediate language to understand the use of intermediate language in Chinese teaching in Barbados.Through investigation and research,the author found that according to the target language environment of Chinese zero basic or primary stage of the level of students,Chinese teachers use English or intermediate teaching language has certain necessity and importance.From the necessity,zero basis or initial stage level of students in listening,speaking,reading,writing,translating are unable to perform all by Chinese.If the teachers and students get away from the lingua franca,there will be a lot of difficulties between their communication.So,teachers can not simply use the target language in teaching,and should teach with the help of the students’native language or lingua franca between them and students to assist teaching.From the importance simply described,using intermediate language in teaching Chinese language can make it easier for students to understand what the teacher says,and also make the distance between teachers and students closer emotionally,so that the teaching effect of teachers can be improved to a certain extent.However,the intermediate language of international Chinese teaching is a double-edged sword,so we should not overestimate or eliminate its role.In Barbados,the Chinese language course is still in the promotion and popularization stage,and there is not conditions for teachers to teach Chinese in a,zero intermediate language"or immersion environment.At present and a long time in the future,Chinese teaching in the University of the West Indies,Cave Hill Campus is or will be in the phase of"developing" the teacher can t be away from English or"Bajan"in Chinese teaching,as a result,about the questions of using intermediate language,teachers need to pay continuous attention,to think,to discuss and adjust.The author summarizes the influence of effective use of intermediate language on international Chinese teaching,and also puts forward specific suggestions,especially for teachers.In addition,the author also gives some advice for the use of teachers teaching material,Barbados different class types,the Cofucius Institute,local primary and secondary schools and Hanban.In the future,Chinese teaching will develop into immersion teaching or legal related direction in Barbados,so,when select the Chinese teachers,Hanban and the Cofucius Institute need to take the combination between teacher’s ability to use intermediate language and some important elements in the development of teaching trend into account,also considering the specific teaching practice.The research conclusion of this paper,to a certain extent,reflects the basic situation of intermediate language using of teaching Chinese in Barbados.the author also presents specific proposals on using intermediate language for future teaching according to the practice in this classroom,but there are still some shortcomings,and the content of the reference is not comprehensive.This research is mainly used for using intermediate language in Chinese class in Barbados,however it doesn’t have universal significance.if it has necessity to research the same theme on other countries,it’s better to do empirical research and specific treatment. |
